Another Aquarius Bites the Dust

Saparmurat Niyazov died yesterday, quite possibly the weirdest dictator ever.

Niyazov never liked dogs so dogs were banned from the capital

It sounds like he personified the usual humanitarian/freedom espousing/egocentric characteristics that are associated with aquarians except at the same time he was a despotic tyrant that also humoured his own personal whims on an entire nation.

And of course, there's his closure of hospitals outside of Aşgabat, which probably means he killed about as many as Pinochet.

Yeah exactly yama. I was just saying that even though he may have thought he was in essence a humanitarian, he was in actuality very cruel and suppressive. Maybe hwas just incredibly dim and it didn't occur to him that clsing the hospitals outside the city limits may have made economic sense but would result in many deaths. I mean one of the typical traits of communism is that intellectualism, ie real intelligence, is frowned on so it gives rise to lots of dim wits like this turkman guy/despot.
