What the hell is up with you and celebrating birthdays? How hard is it to buy someone a card, write a thoughtful message and buy them some flowers?! Is it going to kill you if you bought your loved ones something they like Especially if you know it means something to them, and they do the same for you?! Do you not believe in making people happy or something— Seriously Aquas are the birthday Nazzis!!!!!

LOL
"this Aqua" is my father, my boyfriend, and every other Aquarian I've ever known.

And you should have called your mom on her actual birthday, sheesh

But seriously, it makes me wonder what kind of a person you have to be to not have that urge to do something nice for someone you love on their special day, even if you don't care about birthdays in general. I'm a daddys girl and always plan something for his birthday, and make sure everyone in the family joins in on the surprise too. As much as he spoils me in different ways, he thinks eating grilled food at home is celebration enough for a birthday, every time!! As for my boyfriend, we have celebrated two of his birthdays since we've been together and I've gone above and beyond to plan his special day. For my birthday he just wants me to plan it, suggest where we go, choose where we eat, do all the work except pay for everything. No surprise plans, no present despite my hinting for months, and this year not even a card!!! I'm disappointed and hurt & I refuse to just "accept it because spending time with someone is the real gift" pffftt you guys suck

I'm aqua woman .... I'm terrible with birthdays

I remember birthday dates, but when it comes to that actual day, I forget.
I love to make something nice for people I care for. Have to be it on birthday?

This year even my parents forgot my birthday. I don't mind. Life is not about birthday.

When it's someone really special to me, to my heart, I send happy birthday message, my own poem or something like that.

You're dealing with men, here (and especially nonromantic aqua men). lol!

It's usually our girl friends that are good at remembering and planning celebrations. And that could be because we're more comfortable telling our women friends what it is we actually want. Remember, men can't read your mind and if you don't tell them you want a party, they're not even going to think to plan one.

If they miss your birthday, then miss theirs next go around. They probably won't even care or even notice it's their birthday - just another day to them, probably.

The only thing you can do is explain to them that you were hurt and why it hurt you - logically and rationally. See, if they try to improve. You might have to remind them next year how hurt you were this year.

For what it's worth, my birthday is one week after Christmas and my aqua didn't get me anything, but he did buy me an expensive Christmas present and gave me a house key the week after my birthday. He did spend the entire day with me at my parents house. So, it's all good to me. I felt like the key was my present, even though he didn't present it like a present.

i'm just glad me and my husband don't have to worry so much about alot of people to think about their bdays! and most of our close relatives are easy bdays to remember. We even forget our anniversary together. (we'll say to eachother while watching tv or sitting together doing our project and we'll turn to eachother -- hey did you realize that our anniversary was 2 weeks ago? yeah....we both shrug and laugh together) lmao!! I'm really glad i dont have a die-hard partner who has to have it this way and that way when it comes to bdays/events w/eachother. My mother is strict with this stuff. she has to have it memorized like crazy and if you even forget mother's day she'll be very upset. But that's her and she needs it known even subtly mentioning it.

OP, you must be a DIE-HARD strickler for this stuff. *shakeshead* Just subtly put it in that your bday is coming up. if youre more direct, just tell him straight. But that might mean NAGGING. So, subtly tell him, kind of manipulative like, cause i know how my mother can do it. she's good at it. and hell and high water if we forget. so if you don't know how to SUBTLY put it in there, then you're screwed with this kind of guy, especially if he is clueless as a brick.

They don't understand emotional things including sentiments, so they don't realize or will they ever understand that saying "happy bday!" is super important to someone.

It isn't SUPER important to them if someone forgets theirs.

Right

I don't understand what makes saying "happy bday!" emotional thing—!!!

Anyway, if you tell me, saying "happy bday" is important to you and you are important to me, I will try my best don't forget :-)

But usually I will say to you happy day every day if you are super important to me.
