I think it's fair to assume if he didn't do what he said he would do as in contact you first thing early in the morning about taking a date then he's not taking a date, even after you contacted him he didn't say anything so If I were you I would take it that he's not taking a date or just not taking me and leave it alone.
What if he contacts you last minute or in the middle of the week. Will you still try to go?
