why are aquas so confusing??

im a libra girl and have been talking to this aqua guy for the past year on/off because he leaves but then comes back anywhere from 4 days to a month, he doesnt have much experience with girls and he moved multiple times throughout the year but still stayed in contact, then around beginning of summer i noticed he was more open and talkative he discreetly called me his gf and said 'i love you' and little hints like would say 'probably more in love with you' after saying things, so i thought he was starting to get feelings for me he would also talk about deep things with me, then out of nowhere he ignores me for 3 months then messages me saying he misses me and we had a really good conversation then he ignores me again and its been 2 months, i just dont GET it? its either he completely out of the blue got bored of me, or he was getting feelings but decided to run? how long can they ignore you for?

im a libra and its so easy for me to get over people and move on, but i just cant with him and ive tried but its so hard because we clicked so well and i have no idea whats going on with my emotions, i hate to be cliche but i sort of had this unconditional love and acceptance for him no matter how bad he could treat me like he was so special i cant get over it.

if they actually loved someone can they really move on that quickly? or do you think he'll come back after a long period of time?

we would say 'ily' to each other in a friendly joking way but then it kinda lead to i love you and the vibes kinda shifted so it was more than just words and i know we both knew it but we never talked about it, when he discreetly called me his gf and said 'probably more in love with you' after saying something i just casually replied and went along with it but it wasnt awkward because i didnt want to come off too strong or something
and no i haven't told him how i felt, i feel like its too late and if i did that i would be too clingy or something i dont know
