Aries monster?

I've dated aries man for about a year and a half now long distance. It's extremely hard because we rarely see each other which progresses our arguments. Usually, he's decent, but he called me up in the middle of the night (two days ago) and started yelling at me that he'll find a better girl, he would never marry me, he's gonna cheat on me, etc.. he went switch mode on me so quick from sweet heart to monster in a matter of a few hours. Later on, he apologized and simply just woke up "angry." He claimed he didn't mean anything he said, now..is this true? Why hasn't he taken this relationship to the next level, do actions really speak louder than words? I'm sick and tired of waiting for him to grow up, but we've been together for a large chunk of time.. I feel as if it would be a waste of time if we were to break up but he's moving awfully slow relationship wise. What do you fellow aries think, will he ever grow up or is he playing mental games?
