I like to make a special acknowledgment to the growing (small) Asian community on this board, these of course are the only Asians I am aware of either through prior interactions or through posted pictures (this of course does not include myself):

Lunamistress
Smiles (is he still here)
Red Aries (I think he is, he said he was from China... but doesn't necessarily mean he's Asian, eek -______-)

And welcoming (kind of late) a new member...
tuscan_sun

I've seen you post before but didn't realize you were Asian until you posted a picture.

This is your unofficial **~**WELCOME**~**
πŸ˜„

*sigh* so proud of our little community πŸ™‚.

I'm sure that there are more on this board I'm unaware of... so speak now or forever hold your peace. πŸ˜›

I think astrology is very popular in a number of asian cultures is it not?

Yes, actually, the Chinese Zodiac is the most popular (I believe). LOL, funny thing my mom is as passionate about the Chinese Zodiac as I am with the Western.

**Than an eerie scene in which my mom and I parallel each other when pouring over our astrology books pops into my head**

((shivers))

I swear I become more and more like her every day -______-

What are you mixed with?

i'm 1/2 filipina (spanish descent) and 1/2 white (mostly swedish & german along with welsh and a touch of french). my mom is the white one. she literally looks like a barbie doll except she's glowingly pale. white blonde hair with piercing bright blue eyes. tall and thin. she looked like one of those "children of the damned" when she was little.

"You don't see pictures like Ian posted of white girls with the same captions. Their ethnicity isn't even acknowledged. If they are attractive, they are admired and there is no mention of their race..."

That's because we are not allowed to mention our race.ever.if we do,we are racist.......think about it.those of us who are not even close to being so,still are forced to abide by the pc rules of eggshell walking.if that poster would have been of a white girl and said that about white girls.....it would have been considered extremely racist.

re. the objectification discussion... i choose not to fight it just like i choose who i associate with. im too much an individual, and respectful of individuality, to care what anyone else thinks as long as they are happy with what they are doing, not hurting anyone else and definitely not bitching in my ear about the choices they've made. people are going to do what they want whether i like it or not, whether i say anything about it or not. what doesnt suit me will suit some other chick just fine. i'm not gonna crusade the world to fight that. i have friends and family who think along the same lines as me, or close enough and that's all i need. that girl in that pic probably willingly posed for that. maybe she's proud of it. i hope she is for her own sake. but after i post this... it's nothing to me. there are many people out there who have 'a thing' for asians and i dated one. i had a relationship with a guy who only dated filipinas. i'm dating a guy right now who only likes brunettes. we single people out all the time based on physical features... thats really what it all comes down to... 'types' that we are attracted to. and guys have objectified women... aaaaaaaaalways. just like women have objectified guys. at base instinct... this is all one big meat market.

for what its worth i base attraction on looks, and feelings on the person that the woman is... i dont see how i am objectifying women by saying that i find the majority of asian women attractive.... i find most women of all races attractive...

how bout these? how do they make you feel?

My first reaction to those pics doesn't have anything to do with ethnicity.... pedophilia comes to mind more than anything else.

And Ian.... before you get the wrong impression, I am not implying that you are a pedophile, I am just making an observation based on my reaction to the photos in that post.

I myself feel like this whole ethnic objectification thing that has been going on in here is ridiculous. Sorry, that's just my opinion and I mean no disrepect to anyone or their beliefs.

Bottom line is, ALL women of ALL races are objectified. Deal with it! Big breasted blondes are all cast into the mold of Porn Star. Not to mention, all blondes are considered stupid and only to be seen as sexual objects. Latino women are portrayed as being the exotic sex kitten and thought to be "loose". Middle Eastern women are seen as being sexually oppressed and submissive with their sole existence being of and for the man's sexual gratification. They are not allowed to possess an opinion or barely be seen. African American women are often cast into the role of "hood rat" or "hip-hop diva." Women in power positions or in uniform are cast into the lesbian or dyke role. School teachers and librarians are a popular "good girl/bad girl" form of festish erotica. Women who climb the corporate ladder of success are seen as bitches and whores who "obviously" slept their way to the top.

Again, these are not my opinions, only examples of some of the pigeon holes created by society. It's just that way. Who gives a shit! If you don't like it, don't play into it. That's really the only way it will ever change, if EVERYONE was to forego their desire or opinion of any of these things then there would be no market to promote them. But, we all know that's not gonna happen. There are too many sick bastards out there. Me included. πŸ™‚

All in how you look at it I guess.I thought the finger in your mouth was to be provocative...just how it hit me.I guess we all see things differently.....

That's how I saw it too.

1. Ian's first picture: Maybe its me but I thought the caption was hilarious πŸ˜›
2. Pictures of scantily clad women. Sexualization of women - not specific to Asians.
