One of the books by a Lawrence E Joseph highlights the following points

1-Ancient Mayan prophecies based on two millennia of meticulous astronomical observations indicate that 12/21/12 will mark the birth of a new age, accompanied, as all births are, by blood and agony as well as hope and promise.

2-Since the 1940's, and particularly, since 2003, the Sun has behaved more tumultuously than any time since the rapid global warming that accompanied the melting of the last Ice Age. Solar physicists concur that solar activity will next peak, at record-setting levels, in 2012.

3-Storms on the Sun are related to storms on the Earth. The great wave of 2005 hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma coincided with one of the stormiest weeks in the recorded history of the Sun.

4-The Earth's magnetic field, our primary defense against harmful solar radiation, has begun to dwindle, with cracks comparable in scale to the ozone hole opening up randomly. A pole shift, in which such protection falls nearly to zero as the North and South magnetic poles reverse position, may well be under way.

5-Russian geophysicists believe that the Solar System has entered an interstellar energy cloud. This cloud is energizing and destabilizing the Sun and all the planets' atmospheres. Their predictions for catastrophe resulting from the Earth's encounter with this energy cloud range from 2010 to 2020.

6-Berkeley physicists, who discovered that the dinosaurs and 70% of all other species on Earth were extinguished by an impact 65 million years ago, maintain, with 99% certainty, that we are now overdue for another such mega-catastrophe.

7-The Yellowstone supervolcano, which erupts catastrophically every 600,000 to 700,000 years, is preparing to blow. The most recent eruption of comparable magnitude, at Lake Toba, Indonesia, 74,000 years ago, led to the death of more than 90% of the world's population at the time.

8-Eastern philosophies such the I Ching, Chinese book of changes, and also Hindu theology, have been plausibly interpreted as supporting the 2012 end date, as have a range of indigenous belief systems.

9-At least one scholarly interpretation of the Bible predicts that the Earth will be annihilated in 2012. The burgeoning Armageddonist movement of Muslims, Christians and Jews actively seeks to precipitate the final End-Times battle.

and the best part was

Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. This means that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time," Joseph writes.

thelibran .. thank you for posting this info. I've researched most of it already, but, you did mention a couple things I would be interested in checking out further.

I do want to add to your last observation about the sun aligning with the center of the Milky Way .. this 26,000 year mark is also the end of our Sidereal Year/The Great Year. At the beginning of each Sidereal, or Cosmic year, a new race of people will emerge. Thus far, we have 5 root races of people on earth, with many sub-races ..

Additionally, everybody has heard of the "Dark Spot" in the middle of the Milky Way, that scientists think is a Black Hole .. when the sun aligns in the middle, it will be over this dark spot. Some have theorized that since a black hole sucks everything into it, that in 2012, when this alignment happens .. our sun will be sucked into the blackness. Don't think I believe in this theory, but, it's out there, nevertheless.

As for the vulcanoes erupting .. I've researched this and it is believed that as soon as one major eruption is blown, that it will set off the whole "Ring of Fire", which will cover the earth .. we'll end up just like Mars.

It is also believed by many that the planets change position inbetween each Sidereal/Cosmic Years (26,000) and that each planet can only sustain a total of 7 root races. And since planets change positions (which would justify why other planets appear as though they had life at one time), each holding the position as third rock from the sun, alteratively, that this would account for why we have such vast time gaps archeologically speaking. That millions of years can go by inbetween each root race on Earth, while the earth holds a different position, waiting to return to this one again to start a new root race of people. During this hibernation period, the races upon the planets remain in spirit and once the planet is in position (3rd) to sustain life, that these spirits will incarnate. So, basically, in this theory, all the planets in our solar system have souls about, waiting to take position to be born .. some souls will be born in one of the current 5 root races (no sub races yet), and some will be born in whatever characteristic the new and 6th race will look like.

All theories, of course.

Again, thanks for posting this interesting information 🙂

I'm one of those people who would usually tag along with you on this, I have a very vivid imagination, but having been through these type of hypes before I can assure you the world is not going to end in 2012. Nothing will happen. Or something insignificant will happen, and people will go "oh that's what those crazy indians were talking about". As it usually is with these kind of things, predictions are usually made after they occur. But it doesen't mean we can't have fun with it till 21st december, 2012. Hope I'm right now, otherwise I ain't gonna look very good in a history book.

Are they insinuating that "Global Warming" has something to do with this? Ha! Typical Liberal Propaganda.

If the World does end in 2012, it will be because of Freezing and Floods, not Heat and Fire. Listen to the experts, they will tell you that this will be the result of everything that's supposed to occur in 2012.

Quit listening to uninformed, uneducated Liberals who are still pushing their "Global Warming" crap even though it's been freezing across America the last 4 months more so than any other time in history. These Liberals just don't want bruised egos and they can't stand the thought of admitting they are wrong and WE are right.

A powerful hidden force is (and has been) on its way (since before our births)...
But my own personal belief, is that our timeline is off by some random couple of years.
So, even if the "prophecies" are going to be fulfilled...
I doubt that it really is the year we believe to be 2009.
That's one thing about prophecies that always mess with people's heads.
No matter how clear the prophecy is... the time frames are always vague.
HappyScorpio pointed out the propaganda theory... this has always been a powerful way of controlling people.
M-fish... don't be surprised to find that Nostradamus predicted 9/11. But because skyscrapers weren't being built during his time... they (the TWIN TOWERS) were referred to as 'giants.'
Many of these things could be avoided if more people would think for themselves... and not how they're trained to.
Even more of them if the people in power weren't tainted/corrupted by greed and power.

Yes, but just because there are many myths in religion, doesn't mean there's no truth to it.

I'm have always been open-minded when it comes to these things, but lately I have realized that most of it is about coincidence and interpetation. There have never actually been any crystal clear predictions, if there were such things we would know it by now. Nostradamus is intresting and all, I had a whole book about him and his predictions when I was a child, and read it too, but then I found other sources that weren't quite as fuzzy. Internet is a great way of gaining knowledge and balancing the facts with the bs. As I said, most predictions are made after they happen.

I do believe certain people are sensitive and can feel when something is going to happen before it happens. I have a whole family of psycics, but none of them can predict exactly what or how things will happen. It's just intuition. And that's all I really believe in. That, and astrology. To a certain extent.

Well, from what I've heard, that whole end of the world thing is not true for starters. The Mayans apparently just stopped writing the calendar there. It doesn't necessarily signal for the end of the world.

And to explain to you LibScorp, the majority of people are more concerned with the afterlife than the present life, therefore (in my good opinion) they're wasting their lives away preparing for it rather than living their current life they have now. Now what is entailed in preparing for the afterlife (for some religions) is doing good deeds, but for most theism it doesn't require a good deed beyond going to mass, praying to an omnipotent deity, and putting change in the basket, and that is to the extent that most will go. Also, most tend to be self-centered and worrying of their own plight when 2012 comes around.

To be honest I don't think we should be worried about 2012 either, whether it is true or not.
