State your sign and what pets you may have or would like to have. 🙂
What are your feelings/attitude towards animals/pets.

Tell us something about your pet(s)

I am capricorn and I grew up with two beagles. Though I'm out of my Dad's house now, all I really have are two hermit crabs (you may laugh... they were gag gifts). One day I want to get a german shepherd. I'm a big dog kind of person. Definitely a dog person. I love animals and always feel the need to have some sort of connection with them when I'm around them.

My beagles... one has passed on, Bailey, *tear* and for whatever reason I sometimes talk of him like he's still around. The other, Droopy, was my running buddy back when she still had the spring in her step.
My two hermit crabs, Meano and Pudding, I've had for 2 yrs... lol. They're healthy and happy... I take damn good care of them. 😛

i haven't had a pet since i was 19 😢

however, i practically grew up on a farm in the city. i had (altogether throughout my childhood) 9 dogs, 11 cats, 9 birds, countless fish, countless rodents, 2 rabbits, 3 ducks, 2 potbelly pigs, 2 frogs, and a hedgehog. seriously, and no, we never ate any of them.

as much as i miss having a pet, i really don't need one right now. besides, i have other ppl's pets to love up on so i get my fix.

i'm a libra

i like pets i can have what i call an "open relationship" with. cats. sighthounds (the cats of the dog world). i don't like clingy, needy pets.

currently i've got an outdoor cat. we don't spend very much time together. as far as i know she doesn't like other people, is shy, won't go up to other people etc, but she might. i don't know. in the past, she was close to one of my neighbors, she'd let her pet her but wouldn't let her pick her up. she came into my life as a feral kitten. i feed her and take her to the vet. if i go out of town, i'll board her so i know she's safe. she trusts me enough to let me hold her like a baby. sometimes i'll hold onto her tail the whole time we walk up the steps. she'll get annoyed, but she never really pulls away. i don't think she's ever scratched or bitten me once in her life. she's very well behaved.

in the past, i had a cat i loved that would lay in my mom's lap but wouldn't lay in mine. and i got jealous. but the truth was that if he sat in my lap, i'd want to get up as soon as he got comfortable. so i understood.

i'm also fond of sighthounds. afghans are my favorite. they are very smart and independent. they do what they feel like. they like to have a peer relationship with their owners and don't take kindly to domineering ones. they lie around and nap a lot unless it's time to go for a walk or something. if i didn't live in an apartment, i'd totally get a couple. they're also long and lean and elegant, and i definitely like how they look. sighthounds in general, but especially afghans.

i tend to give my pets human names. usually a fancy name, then i call them by a shorter version. my cat now has a very pretty french name, but i call her polly.

growing up, i had cats at my mom's house and dad's house. when i was around 12 my stepmom bought a puppy, which i didn't like because he scared the cats. but when he stopped being a cute puppy and she started ignoring him, i took on the bulk of his care, because he was sweet and it wasn't fair to treat him like that. when i was a senior in high school, 4 cats i'd had since they were babies (including the lap cat i mentioned) all died within a week of antifreeze poisoning. i wouldn't get out of bed for two weeks, not even for school, and i basically spent the whole year depressed. i get very attached to my pets. they're like people, but smaller and prettier.

I tend to like all animals, even raised a wild snake from a baby and hand fed him worms. I always seem to be bringing in injured animals as well to nurse back to health. I volunteer my time for an animal rescue organization so I have 3 foster dogs who are up for adoption plus one of my own. I also have 3 cats, 1 is ours and the other two came to me by way of being listed as a rescue (even though we only do dogs), I couldn't let the poor babies get boarded up inside the abandoned house so I guess you could say all 3 are ours now.

I've never been much into animals really but as a kid I wanted a German Sheppard because of the show "Little Hobo". I really loved the type of heart that dog held and how intuitive he was but mostly the type of heart that he had, how he was always leaning towards helping others. I grew up around a lot of people but was still pretty much a loner and I guess, I just wanted that type of companion.

Aw I love all critters (a snake isn't a critter it's the damn devil himself. I hate snakes.)
Anyway... I honestly think had it not been for animals I'd have never learned empathy, selflessness, and tenderness. My weakness is animals most especially an orphan or a misfit. I just want to take them all in and show them that they are loved. Geez I'm getting misty eyed thinking about it. See... my weakness. lol

My love for animals has never gotten in the way of the knowing how the food chain works though. I don't eat meat but I don't judge others that do. We are, afterall, meant to be obnivores. I'm not against hunting as long as EVERYTHING is used. Sport hunting or trophy hunting is just wrong and a waste. Growing up on a farm I learned at a young age why we raised livestock and what happened to them. It bothered me sometimes but to give my dad credit if I bottle fed an orphan calf or piglet he'd take it to the sale barn rather then send it outright from the farm to the butcher. I did have a "pet" bottle calf named Red (a red angus) that I fought to keep but you know... steers aren't pets. I had my horses too and they kept me busy. I was on the back of a horse before I could walk and riding by myself on my pony younger then I probably should have been 😛

Like Ian I've raised everything from a raccoon to a possum to fawns. I got in trouble at school once because I was toting around an orphaned kitten. I stood up to the principle when he told me I couldn't have it in class. I remember the look on his face when I told him she needed to be fed ever 3 to 4 hours and how would HE like it if he went hungry. Yeah, I still got in trouble but I stood my ground 😛

At the moment I have 4 cats (no farm 😢 ) Butters, Lola, Mama and the baby. All strays. I wasn't even suppose to have animals but Mama showed up at my doorstep hungry..... and pregnant and I couldn't turn her away. The 2 were born and I swore to find them homes but.... didn't happen. Baby was born in Sept due to Mama escaping the house for a midnight trist with the tom cat next door. She's staying too 😛

Cancer.

Proud owner of two adorable pooches (and a frisky feline back home that my ex wouldn't give me custody of...ol' bastard)

Their pics are in my profile: Pretty Girl is 7 (Shih-Tzu), Santiago is 4 months (Chihuahua/Pit Bull mix), and Sasha, my cuddly kitty is pushing retirement (no pic up of her though 😢)

I have grown up with animals all my life: Cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, birds, iguanas...

Animals are such GREAT companions! My two dogs are the best! They keep me company, are always happy to see me, rely on me for their basic needs, "protect me" and shower me with love...feels great!

Lots of my friends didn't have pets, until they meet mine. Now everyone in my circle has some type of pet.

I would like to get a kitten to add to the crew, but I'm going to wait a bit longer.

I am a capricorn and i cannot have pets. I love animals from distance. I am scared of animal's teeth. I hate the smell of some pet dogs when they dont take bath for days. I hate it when they try to lick me.
I just like the concept of having pets though. I like to see how some people can cuddle their dogs and treat it like their child. I can just have good emotion attched to the animal but cannot have any animal close to me.
Cats are beside the point coz i dont think they contribute in any way. Fishes are just moving living creature. Turttle, rabbits humm no again. I would have love to have a horse if i had a large farm and if horse didnt stink.(smell means a lot to me...i just cant stand any unpleasing smell).

Other caps i know are totally opposite. One of the best thing for a dog is to be in a cap's house. Every cap i know except me loves their pet dog.

i'm a gem and a few years ago, i've had at one time... 9 cats, a black lab, ferret, hampster, iguana and a ball python. normally, i have a few cats in my house, but where i live won't allow it. so, right now i only have a hampster named Grimrose.

i've grown up with alot of different kinds of cats, dogs and fish. i was always bringing home strays and begging to keep them. one time i made friends with this huge oscar fish. he would let me pet him all the time without biting me. i've always been that way with animals. ppl are always telling me that i scare them cuz i walk right up to the meanest of strays and just pet them. i can get really close to wild animals.

so i guess you could say that i really like animals. lol!

I'm definitely a dog person. And I like big dogs, not small little lap dogs. My last dog (he is now with my ex due to my living situation) was a Shar-pei named Ralphie. I used to work at a pet friendly office and was able to take him to work with me every day when he was a puppy. One of the reasons why I got him when I did, because I was able to devote a lot of time to him. I miss him dearly. I had him for 9 years and he was my baby, but he is happy and living in the country with his Daddy and has tons of space to roam, so it was best for him to go. We also had an English Bulldog named Chloe that got hit by a car last year. 😢

Growing up I had mostly Labrador's and we always had about two - three dogs at all times.
