Its a square in a loose orb but you make me question myself now...

My Sun is in the same house as my Mercury and it trine my Jupiter...If trines are in the same element, could I consider this aspect to be a trine?

not about element, more like degrees.

example

a planet in 29 degrees scorpio and a planet in 1 degrees pisces would come up as square not trine.
