I'm not a fan of reading gruesome details of slaughters. I saw this book at a fair once, and read the back cover.. I mean I be honest, I don't like reading about the darker aspects of meat trade, which seems to be what the book comprises of .. shock value. I have a hard time with animal, vegetable, miracle.. or food books for that matter. Still it's in my bookmarked shelf, in case one fine day I get bowled over by reviews that speak of Foer's "philosophical, extremely well-researched writing" ...
