I just found out last week that the three managers/supervisors who are highest ranked at my branch I am working at for a while are Capricorns. It's funny we have Capricorns running the place and in my area mostly water signs. I have never had a Capricorn manager or boss that I know of before but with these three I am impressed. You can tell because we are in high season they can be stressed sometimes but they are reasonable, do have a sense of humour and actually care. One of the leaders in my area is a Pisces and was not feeling well this week to the point she had to lie down and rest. The one Capricorn who can seem quite serious and closed off sometimes came in and quietly said please go home, you don't need to be here feeling like that and you could tell she had concern in her eyes. Even of Capricorn's face is stoic you can tell a lot by their eyes.
My immediate supervisor hand picked me for certain reasons and we get along great. We all in the department have similar humour and tastes. She has the funniest expressions. She also is not afraid to tell you you're full of crap if it's obvious you are. There is an Aries who works in our department I cannot stand. Normally I like Aries but this one is dreadful and makes some of the stupidest comments sometimes. I have to hide my face and fight back laughter when the Aries talks half the time my Capricorn supervisor gives her this "you're totally full of shite look".
I knew Pisces/Capricorn often went well romantically but did not realize that was for working relationships as well. It's weird how both signs can be so different yet somehow get each other and mesh so well together.
Have you had experiences with Capricorn bosses and do you find this to be the case as well? If I had to pick in the future I wouldn't mind another Capricorn boss.
I used to be a boss. And yes, capricorns are fair, but we don't play around either. Good sense of humor and compassionate, but get your work done. I believed that employees must have fun at the office to be productive, so I encouraged laughter and jokes and bonding time. I also believe good treatment of the employees, as well as some understanding of their issues is a must. A capricorn boss will be fair and consistent and if you treat them right and do your job well, they will be loyal to you and have your back. I have gone to the mat for my employees lots of times and stood up for them many times.
I was open to ideas and believed in empowering people to make changes in processes that made sense to them and made their work more efficient for them (as long as I understood what and why they were doing). As long as the end product is correct, didn't matter to me how they got there.
Don't bring a lot of emotional distress or drama to the job. As far as I'm concerned, that needs to be left out of the office. I would not respond to those tactics. Also, didn't like being cornered or pushed because if I were pushed to make a decision before I was ready, then the decision you got was the one you didn't want.
Enjoy your bosses, appreciate their humor, do what you're supposed to do, don't be careless, have good work ethics and don't be afraid of them. Sometimes your boss will expect you to suck it up and get done what needs to get done - they will appreciate that about you. Take the job seriously, but don't forget to have fun as well. We know happy employees make good employees.
And if the boss comes to you vent (yes, cappys vent - a lot), then listen, understand and keep it between the two of you. If they come to you they trust you, value your opinions and appreciate your input. That means A LOT!! If you are loyal to them, they will be loyal to you.
Truecap I agree with everything you said. I do as they say or ask. I am one of those people who usually likes to keep my head down and go about my work. That's why I bring headphones to work since we are all in the same room I don't have a way to block out the non sense so I put music on and only respond if directly asked a question or if I have to ask a question. You can see they expect work and done well but aren't ridiculous about it. They also tell us we're doing a good job when you can tell they really appreciate it. I try and keep my personal life and work life separate that is why I never add co workers to Facebook until after I have left the job or usually don't hang out with them unless to get a drink after work
The Aries likes to incite me and get me going sometimes and my Cap supervisor is so laid back about stuff is just like why does it matter? I like that the Cap supervisors ask nicely and not demand and command like the Aries. You can tell the asking is with the understanding you do it and I do because it's my job and it's what they want but it's so much nicer to work with somebody who asks. I like they know how to get people going without making them feel bad about themselves.
