So my friend doesn't have many people close to him. Everyday when he gets home from work in the morning, he draws his curtains in his room closed so that it's always dark. He doesn't eat much and sometimes he sleeps for up to 12 hours at a time. He has suffered from depression and image issues (he was bullied in the past but lately even when girls say he's cute or handsome, he never believes it and constantly compares himself to others his age which fuels his self-hate) since around age 12 (21 now) and had several health issues as a child as well as having turbulent home life (switching schools and constant moving). He says he doesn't have any drive or goals (he has recently taken an interest in painting though) and is always sad that all his peers from high school seem to be happy and thriving while he wastes away. He has a twndency to start something and then defeat himself through a combination of self hate and procrastination (he picked up boxing A few months ago but constantly put himself down until he lost the will to go in everyday). He does have an extremely strong want to be remembered by people though. Not so much a fame chaser as not wanting to be worthless and wanting to help others on a global scale. I digress, is this a common theme with Capricorns or is this an isolated case? I can post the natal with birth time if need be.

It might not be so much as denying as not knowing the signs. For me the sign is if I prefer to sleep rather than do anything that I would normally enjoy.

And yes, it has been a consistent factor in my life. I would've never used the word depression to describe it just because it was so common to me and would refer to is being "down". Now that I've learned more about it I would def call it depression but this is not something i'd open up to anyone. Most people would actually think I'm quite a happy person.

Self-esteem has a huge impact on depression. So I think what @ElvisStalinwoods mentioned about working out and improving health would really be #1 priority that would help.

Also meditation for mental health and positive affirmations. Like some people expect to be happy all the time. It's a western concept. But happiness is a feeling that comes and goes. It's unrealistic to believe that anyone is happy 24/7. I think the right aim is to be content. Content that whatever you have in your life is enough for now and you're enough for what you want in life. Like literally all you need is you...all Caps see are obstacles (which helps in preparation) but it would be valuable to meditate that all you need is you... because that's the start of anything to believe in yourself.

He had depression in the past--did he name it depression himself or did he describe his life and you picked up on the signs like now? If he didn't know what it was then then he may not know it now. Everyone starts their journey in denial. 'Its not that bad. Other people have it worse. I'm not going to make a big deal out of this yadayada.'

Excerise is a good habit but if his depression is chronic he may need to look into medication. It may be as simple as finding a day job.

(Not a cap, have a history of this crap)
