Fellow Majestic Goats,
How do you build up a tolerance for small talk? Seriously, as I am now, I'm too aggressive and can only entertain small talk for a few minutes before we HAVE to talk about something constructive or silence will follow.

Impart Wisedom on this young goat who wants to sell small talk mountain to the air signs for profit.

(In)sincerely,
A Goat

Im kind of aggressive as well and extremely impatient when it comes to small talk.

Not that I have anything important to talk about, for me I guess I don't want to use time thinking of things to say, since it doesn't always come naturally.

It's part of the reason I like talking to older people too. They usually have a lot to say without me having to contribute much, plus it's usually interesting things.

Older people are a blessing.
Just keep talking and all you have to do is listen and nod. You might even learn something useful! 🙂

Exactly! Its never ackward and I love that.

Exactly. My age or younger, I feel like it's almost like a job to amuse them or prove that I'm approachable and not evil. My rising helps/hurts sometimes, but yeah...

Does not help I don't pay much attention to current pop trends. Ugh.

Yeah, me too. I find that I feel Im being read, which puts me in a weird position. I don't feel too many people take to my energy, and they try to understand it...or get turned off by it. I could be the problem, idk.

My moon and rising is in Leo, which is a battle within itself.

Ouch. Perhaps if you took to it as brining them into your world instead of trying to play a D-list role in their world, it would help you resolve it.

Warning: The following may read as really conceded.

Just frame them up as someone there to amuse you. You are the star of your own show, they're there to either shine or reflect your light. From there, with a bit a time, you might feel less uncomfortable!

I get really impatient with small talk too, so I don't engage in it for long.

1. Smoothly change the subject:

Example.
- Lovely weather, isn't it? Sun is shining.
- Not so much on me, I hardly have any placements in leo. lol. Do you?
Result: either we talk astrology instead of about the weather or they leave, thinking you're a nut case...which is also fine, because you don't have to be bothered about small talking with them anymore.

2. Smoothly change convo partner. (see above or...)

a) Introduce them to someone else(preferably another smalltalker, leaving them occupied with each other) and then slip away gracefully.
b) Faint and hope the medical personel at the hospital makes better conversation.

Eeezy peeezy.
