Um.. How to find aspects?

How do I find aspects in a natal or synastry chart without using a online calculator?

Are there tutorials for this kind of stuff?
Can anyone give me any beginner's tips?

I don't even know where to start

Okay so I think I'm on the right track maybe?
I look at my natal chart and go down the list of planets like for example my Sun and I look at the signs and see if they are the same they can be conjunct if its in a tight enough orb? Or if I have sun in Leo and moon in aqua they can be opposites if the orb is close?

I know I'm not 100% correct but I'm trying really hard to understand

Pretty much yeah.... you're on the right track.

But an online calculator is such easier, and seeing it

will enable you to learn as you go, if that is what you want.
