A yod is sacrifice.

just a choice between the opportunity shown by the base planets in sextile to one another (sextile = opportunity)

and the "other side of life" revealed at the apex.

A person can have one or the other but not both, one has to be given up for the other, in theory at least.
Thanks. Let me clarify in a simplistic view... in my case the opportunities are represented by Jupiter in 11th (something to do with community) and Saturn in 9th (maybe travel/learning/philosophy) ~i have to sacrifice either of these houses in order for me to reach Moon in 4th (maybe to create a family/home)?

I thought yod was more about things being predestined.

"The Yod in Astrology can create events, incidents, relationships etc, that occurs in a person’s life not out of their choice but in a karmic manner. These circumstances usually come as an opportunity and eventually turn out to be a blessing or a curse.

A Yod can bestow gifts like a talent or a higher intelligence, bring about an unusual situation or sharp turns in life that cause steep ups and downs. The overlapping factor in all these instances is that the person doesn’t have much control over what can occur and it can be negative or positive. Real or imagined, there is a feeling that another force behind is controlling the show. During these incidents when a person realizes their extraordinary gift, or when one suddenly becomes rich or poor, or when they find themselves in very unusual circumstances, there is usually a transit or progression that triggers the Yod energy, and the planets, sign and area of the chart involved in the Yod and those involved in the transits determines the nature of the outcome."
The yod will affect my family/home ~ will be either a blessing or a curse 😢 ??

The sextile of a yod is referred to by some as a projection screen.

Ergo, learn what is denied to be of one's nature as manifest by the apex planet, and thus projected onto others through the descendant, accept the influences that planet brings into one's life through the disposition of the sign and house that it's in, and then through effort and lessons learned about the use of that planet's influence through the perpetual adjustments prompted by the dual quincunx aspects as symbolized by the projection screen, and you have a native with a yod that can literally manifest one's desires into reality through projection of thought alone more aptly than most others.

Most times, the later development phases come naturally and intuitively. It's getting over the hump of letting the ego get in the way of accepting the continual work/effort prompted by the sextile.

You also have Neptune on the reaction point (opposite the apex), so you probably are no stranger to intense synchronicity or what feel like fateful meetings prompted by interactions with people who put inner personal placements square or conjunct your Neptune in synastry.

Given the nature of your finger of god (what the apex is sometimes referred to as), these occurrences have probably challenged on nearly every front what you have been taught to think and believe what will make you feel secure in life. In this way, I could see how destruction as a keyword paradigm could be associated to the apex. It is not destruction related to the apex's placement, though, but rather what is not true to oneself in terms of that placement that has been rooted into one's psyche by others that can cause one to be bound to face, recurring if need be, experiences that will destroy every false truth of the self believed in so that by the time the quincunxed screen can morph freely, the finger of god will only touch one's reality through one's own innermost truth.

With great power comes great responsibility and all that jazz - and thus, thus misuse of it also tends toward great pain, suffering, and avoidance of reminiscent forks in the road of one's life that recall.

Triangulations of any kind are the strongest, most noticable of aspect configurations. A yod integrates the 6th harmonic (symbolic of fulfillment trough work/effort/atonement, karma in essence) with, twofold, the 5th multitude of the 12th harmonic (5 = creation, 12 = the whole, the perfect harmonious unit).

The orb for the quincunx from your Moon to Saturn is 7 degrees and is separating, though, so whichever house your Saturn is placed in may describe an area of your life in which fixed attitudes and beliefs about yourself and your own flaws - or lack thereof - (Virgo Mars disposition) may unconsciously be self-sabotaging, making it feel as though much of your life comes together in ways exactly as you envision with one notable, discouraging exception.

2 or 3 degrees tends to be the orb used for minor aspects, including the 12th harmonic semi-sextile and quincunx.

I've studied this configuration more than any other, for reasons of my own:

...and my daughter's:

😛
Thanks so much for all the details. I need time to digest all that.. but if you can put it in layman's term.. 😅 Glad to know it is not going to bring destruction to my home. What's your personal experience about yours and your daughter's yods?

I think i can relate to the Neptune fateful meeting thing.. but there is only one person i had so many aspects in my Neptune with.. and we both have Pisces rising and he has Pisces moon too, so it is confusing to say the least. Im trying to let go.

You can simplify it even further. Jupiter in Aqua is generally stronger than Saturn in Scorpio so the energy is all flowing from your 11th to 9th in that chart.

Maybe you've had opportunities to take what you know in your community to somewhere abroad and live among their rules.

But that experience would have to be passed up or rules be broken for whatever lies in the 4th house.

Also keep in mind that's only relevant at birth, if this is a birth chart. by the time you are 1,2 years old that yod aspect is already broken by your Moon moving elsewhere in the chart, if you believe in progressed astrology.

The only times when things at birth tend to come to the same crossroads later is around 28 or so, then middle age, etc. Natal aspects aren't relevant every hour of every day

I usually do well in community and yes i moved abroad (for work)

Ok im not going to take it seriously.. just came across an article which got me curious.

Thanks 😊

So yeah Yods are more like a wild call that needs to find an expression. There will be a feeling of chasing or running after something. An urgency. It adds a certain quirk... A feeling of being misunderstood, of course everybody is misunderstood in this world but yods are peculiar people... The more you bend and allow that energy to have an expression, better it is to handle it.

Not sure if this helped rofl. I didn't plan on writing here anything at all... But yeah.

Don't be scared of a yod. Learn to adapt your emotions to how events play out in your life.

Relate so much to this!

My apex is Saturn rofl.

Glad you could relate... I was about to hide that post rofl

Idk and maybe I'm totally wrong. But I feel bringing some sorta discipline to the Alex planet would help to navigate a yod in a better way. Astrologers say it's a wild card. I feel it is a wild card when activated in synastry but hardwork and mental agility could control that Alex.

It's a great post and makes a lot is sense. Don't hide please.

YODs have so little information on them that it's hard to sift what applies and what doesn't. All I know for me I basically have or had to choose between relationship or work/career. Work/life balance and finding it.

A yod?

The planets that make a sextile? They tend to work well, these two planets are what you have a control over.

But the planet that's at the Apex of the yod? The energy it receives- let's say isn't smooth. The Apex is more like a release point of an arrow and it's holding in tons of energy that isn't you know well controlled.

A yod is not exactly active all the time... A yod is active when it's hit by transit or when someone else brings a planet to activate it.

The isoceles triangle formed by yod- the Base is the point that you get to control or have a say in. This part is the conscious energy of the yod. Saturn/Jupiter sextile -hardwork, foreign travels ,working with organisations, etc would be your conscious decisions.

The top part/Apex- this is the part that gets hit the hardest. I believe in your case it is the moon? Sorry I didn't read the follow up posts properly, I just ran through it, so idk the planets or houses you mentioned.

When a transit planet hits the opposite end of your apex, it gets you to act out your moon and it isn't totally in your control. All the energy gets a release and the events that unfold can act as a turning event in your life. The thing is how it gets released? It depends how well you are able to play into the energy of the quincunxes.

Yods aren't seen as very easy pattern to have in your chart because of the unexpected element a synastry or a transit could bring into it by activating it. Few people with yods learn to express the energy really well, they tend to express one end of an inconjunct in an exaggerated manner. They find an outlet for that "release point". Release point is either the Apex of the opposite end of the Apex.

I have a yod, now that I got my accurate birth timings, things make so much sense.

I have a yod with Venus at the Apex. I believe I also have a Golden Yod!

I have tried to express my Venus more than any other planet in my chart but it always put a price on the other aspects in my chart. Finding ways to express my Venus never came easy... Pluto was always trying to take over and control it and gave it an obsessive energy and Neptune/Uranus would try to add a certain quirky reckless nature to it. Either I would dance by giving it all or I would refuse to move or when I danced it was all my own/unconventional. It took me time to learn to balance that artistic need. I was either all into dancing or I would refuse to dance. I was seen as a natural/gifted whatever you wanna call it... I don't wanna talk about the boomerang effect my exe's Mars brought into the mix ROFL

Anyways the trick to handle a yod imo is

1. Find an outlet to express the Apex planet.

2. Learn not to give up if that yod gets hit by a transit and you feel your world turned upside down.

3. If activated in synastry, either you are screwed over and everything ends in shambles or it could be the most liberating event in your life if your yod gets to express itself freely.

Ohhh some things makes more sense now. I vowed against Mars in Scorpio people.. it conjucts my Saturn in Scorp. (i once created a thread here on how to estimate Mars in a person's natal chart to avoid) I just thought that Mars/Saturn is simply a difficult conjunction in synastry... but now that you mentioned point #3, maybe thats why it feels like these bring a diabolical energy to my life.
