What are some birthday gifts you've loved or would like to receive from a friend?

Tickets! CONCERTS, museums, art galleries, sporting events (if they like a sport, I do), any event that is going on locally and seems interesting.

Beer tasting, wine tasting, I've always wanted to do that painting lesson + wine thing, taking a picnic and going on a hike to somewhere beautiful, etc.

Anything that is stimulating and fun.

I prefer an experience/memory over an item like a shirt or something.

Ok those are good ideas, I'll look into some events!

OTOH, I appreciate anything that has a heartfelt thought behind it. Material things are nice, but for me, it's the personal touch that matters most.

this^^^ I do like surprises, though!!

I like to go to restaurants, so gift cards to places I like are great! Movie tickets, a gift card to amazon or eBay... Or a book on subjects I like would be cool too.
