what makes a gem laugh?

A gem guy told me he did not know much about me.
My answer was 'ask away. Ive got nothing to hide'
He laughs - have no idea why - and someone came into the room so we changes subjects.
Is that a gem thing or just awkward humor?

I guess "I ve got nothing to hide"

I laugh at really odd times, apparently. Often, I'm laughing at an inside joke I have with myself.
