Regarding dealings with the spirit realm.

How do you feel about the handling of spirits, angelic, demonic, and your own?

Specifically Divination vs Religion. Do you feel there is only one way to properly/successfully address lingering spirits? Do you smudge, or attend a service? Do you pray or ask the oracle for advice? Are crystals your source of protection or anointing oil?

I notice the spiritual side is more accepting of the idea of God but practices and application of the Christ conscious are very different than those used by church goers. Religion basically mandates giving all to God (love, burdens, concerns, gratitude) and spiritual folk tend to feel that takes away a sense of their personal power- opting to channel/embody the Christ conscious directly.

Religion is far less accepting of mysticism and it's practices as well.

As a person with experience in both worlds, I can't help but to realize some practices are extremely similar. The most immediate example I can think of is tarrying for the Holy Spirit which definitely has some ritualistic undertones.

I will say i have never had a spiritual awakening as strong as what i've experienced when in church, but i do miss the hands on participation in self development/preservation and open mindedness that divination offers.

Do you think there is a "right" way?

As in all efforts are equally futile or successful?

You're right though i actually should have specified Christianity. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Islam is pretty strict too.

now that I read this again, I think what you are asking is more about spirits/ghosts/how to handle/which way is the right way

My opinion is that there is no right way to handle the paranormal. There are lots of different practices and technology. However, I truly believe that it is the state of mind and/or being and or faith of the person that encounters the spirit that matters the most. Mind you, I have never encountered a demon spirit just the run of the mill ghosts lol.

My mom tried to raise me catholic and I always had to attend mass and pray on the rosary. I broke away from that at a very young age. It never resonated with me as it made me feel oppressed and I questioned everything.

After about 15 years of self discovery diving into spiritual practice, I now attend a nondenominational church. Science of mind. I find it to be freeing as there are teachings of everything from Hinduism, buddhism, christ consciousness, etc.

There's really no right or wrong way. You could develope your own path. When I feel like there is some contact with spirits, darkness, I say things like "God and the angels, I call upon you now. Support me with light and nothing but love" but God to me is not a dude. It is everything. Energy. Whatever is out there that has your highest good. I also like tarot readings and stones. I believe in the power of burning herbs and am more on the mystical side of things.

The catholic religion was born on the back of the oppressed. It is all about oppression. It is for sheep, not people who are more open and curious about religion. Have you read any of Helen Blavatsky's "Isis Unveiled".

I don't believe any effort will be successful in and of itself - the median's tools are just an extension - and they have to be spiritually strong

I was raised United Methodist - on my fathers side, the ancestry originated in the Austria, Switzerland area. Quakers, Amish, Mennonite. I grew up with and was surrounded by all 3 sects as well as the regular religions. Observing that, but not having much contact or knowledge with Catholics until teen years in school. I didn't understand it at all until my (x)husband explained it to me. He was raised Catholic but strayed and for and to the good I must say. He had me watch a movie about Constantine the Great. I cried. It is quite moving to understand where the break came from. It all made sense and since then I've learned a lot more about theology and religions around the world. We are truly just one - just from many different angles.
