Ok I am taking my son to the dentist today for the very first time. I am so nervous for him! He doesn't do well with new strange medical situations he freaked out when he got his eyes checked at his last check up. For you parents out there how was your first experience taking your kid to the dentist.
First Dentist experiences

The dentist I took my kids to was really nice about showing them all the equipment and how it worked. I think that helped a lot.
It might also help if he could watch him work on someone else, but the other patient would have to agree.
If you could take them for a simple cleaning exam first, then I think they won't be so fearful for when they have to get work done. Because they can look and touch and watch, but that first deadening shot is what will scare them the most and upset them the most because it does hurt a little no matter how cool the dentist is.
I thought it best to get them familiar with the dentist before they had to get shots and drilled.
Hope this helps.

Nyquil.
So yall it was a complete nightmare. I ended up getting my teeth cleaned to show him it was ok. He has to go back today but had a complete melt down about it when he found out he was going again this morning. I tried to show him some videos about the dentist but he still doesn't want to go. His teacher said she will try to talk about it at circle time so he can hear he other classmates talk about it.

Aw poor thing. How old is he? What is it that scares him about it all?

I think he's meant to be terrified. It's basically a right-of-passage growing up. Like sexual awkwardness, there's nothing for parents to really do to protect or spare their children from this experiences. One day, I hope to have children and be there for them as they are filled with terror during their check ups. *^___^*

He is 3. Well as soon as he saw the room he freaked because he went to the ER 3 weeks ago for shoving a lego head up his nose (Because man cubs do stupid things like that) and he didn't like the hold the nostril blow through the mouth trick so the nurses had to hold him down and pull it out with tweezers so he said walked in and screamed not my nose! Then he looked at the counter and saw the fake teeth there and he freaked again saying they got teeth mommy! I tried to explain that they were a fake toy and he said no they got someone's mouth I don't like those teeth. I said we have to clean your teeth and make sure they are healthy he says no I want dirty teeth. They put on his favorite show and he calmed down a bit sitting in my lap but every time the guy would try to talk to him he would scream you get out of here! Smh it was a fiasco I really hope he is ok to go when I come get him from school I don't want him to be always so afraid of the dentist.
