Do Leo's have a hard time showing appreciation? I bend over backwards for this guy. Sometimes it is purely because I wish to and expect nothing in return, but when I give my time to creating a logo for him FOR FREE (I'm a graphic designer), I kinda expect some major gushing! Not treating me like a client would, even if he does have changes he wishes to make to it.

I asked him to get me this giant stuffed giraffe that his landlord is selling (he's selling a ton of butter). It has been something that I have asked for REPEATEDLY and told him I'D freakin' pay for it and he just ignores me or says he will and doesn't. He says he hates talking to that guy and the thought of giving him money for anything (the guy is a worthless alcoholic so he has zero respect for the guy), but why is this a big deal, ESPECIALLY when it will make me HAPPY!!!

What is up with that—

And if he doesn't make me feel appreciated for doing the logo, I'm def' gonna cool it and disappear for a while, not be pissy, but just "unavailable"...at least I'm gonna try. Grrrr....

Expecting an emotion from somebody in reaction to your 'selfless act' isn't helping your case. He may be sensing that, or you could be so focused on your own need for his 'expected gratitude', that you're glossing over the actual dynamics that appear right before you.

But to be blunt, you're not coming off as if you're doing this 'for free', since you're intent on his payment through gratitude and a stuffed animal (whether you're paying or not, you're still expecting something from him).
