Why does this libra guy not act like himself around me?

I need help understanding a libra guy!!

He seemed shy as a first impression. I said something to him before I left and the next day he was the total opposite. He was super giddy, initiated small talk, sat beside me and tried to avoid showing me a dirty joke. We haven't talked since then, but I caught him looking at him at random occasions and one time after class he ran up and walked right beside me. Whenever we made eye contact I always looked away first since I am a bit shy around cute guys and I also noticed that he has a serious, blank expression on his face when he looks at me. We finally met up again after awhile. When I got there I noticed that he was pretty quiet but then he started to show off and talk with the others. When he did look at me he had a serious/intense expression. I tried to be more outgoing because I was shy when we first met. So I was confused about why he acted like that when we don't know each other well or talk much at all. After hanging out, I saw him later and he avoided me and did something else while I talked to his friends. He seems more reserved now around me but at the same time still tries to be near me. The other day he sat in the row behind me when there was space and he also did a double take while walking past me. I am so confused with this libra. Any advice? I want to be friends or at least on friendly terms with him. I have no idea why he has not been able to act like himself around me since we met. In general, he is friendly with girls and is friends with a bunch. Plus he seems like the outgoing, cute athletic type or maybe i'm wrong......help please

We meet through other people but we don't necessarily have the same friends. I'm not really the most outgoing person when it comes to attractive guys but I thought libras are suppose to be flirty with everyone??
