I am on my fourth month in a six-month bar review period I am preparing for the bar exams. As some of you may know, particularly starlover, I have been on the edge of quitting from law school so many times when I was still there. I already have Ll.B. at the end of my name and the only thing I need to hurdle is the bar exams so that I would finally become a full-fledged cpa lawyer.

It has been a very long journey, beginning from 2004 (as an accounting student) all the way to hopefully this year. I'm scared of the Bar especially since I know many people with bright minds failed in the past. I have always been at the top of my class, getting the highest grades in about half the subjects I've taken in law school and the Bar is just two (2) months from now... yet I always feel that I am just beginning, that the final leg towards victory is still a long way to go, and that it seems to be an impossible achievement to attain. I've dreamed so many times in the past that no matter how hard I try, I won't make it. It's scary... especially since many people expect a lot from me because they know I had always excelled in law school.

I hope this is just some drama and nothing more. I hope I can make it... but I really am scared, always thinking that I still have so much to do and so much to read. It always feels like this even though I only have to exert efforts for a period of less than 3 months.

I need some inspiration to get me going. The bar is not a 5-meter sprint, as they say. It's a marathon, an "endurance test." The problem is, I am already on the verge of losing energy. I am not the kind of person who excels in matters involving endurance... so I'm pretty damn scared. @_@

Thanks, Arrius. What state are you from? The Philippine Bar Exam, they say, is one of the most difficult in the world. @_@
I'll tell you that privately.

Not to say it isn't a challenge, but a lot of jurisdictions lay claim to "most difficult bar exam in the world." You already have an advanced degree in a rigorous discipline. You're going to pass.

Lol. I keep on hearing lawyers say they have taken the worst bar exams ever. 😛

Yes, I'm taking some breaks. I am happy whenever I study. What gets me worried are some things like:

1. handwriting - my coaches tell me I have bad handwriting and since the examiners will check about 7,000 booklets, they might skim through my answers and not give me full credit for them. This often happens, they say, whenever any particular examiner is in bad mood or stressed out.

2. sleep - sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep. Sometimes I sleep for 10-12 hours. Not good because I miss out some of the things I need to read.

3. internet addiction - I am in constant battle with myself not to open the net. But here I am doing it. Good thing, it's Saturday. I'm taking a break now.

4. memorization - I struggle with memorizing the things I read. But I know what I should do with it now. I just have to keep on memorizing. As times go by, it becomes easier and I can do it faster these days than before.

5. erasures - my coach told me I have to avoid making erasures... but what can I do if I keep on changing my mind with my answers.

6. backlogs - I have backlogs in civil law, remedial law and legal ethics. I already have plans for these but I am still worried I might not be able to finish everything.

If you wrote a brief, it would be comprehensible and well-organized. I'm ashamed to say that your writing is actually superior to some American attorneys' work product. Not law school students. Practicing attorneys.
Don't feed the ego of my leo moon, sir. Lol. But yes, thanks for the compliment. I used to be the editor-in-chief of our school paper. But I do have to admit, my writing isn't broadsheet-level. I think I still have to practice some more.

firebunny's lawyering skills have been tested by me.

the old lady at immigration was tryina be pedantic and wanted me to add in a phrase and change up the spacing in the docs firebunny drew up for me. i was like nah i'm not coming back here again.

she complimented my color scheme which consisted of purple ralph lauren pants and a purple henley from diesel. ah this bish is conservative i bet she watched the royal wedding. then she also complimented my briefcase, which was my signal to go on a monologue about the importance of being organized.

she signed my shabby papers and i'm a few weeks away of becoming a filipino citizen again.
So did you have it re-written? I'm glad you liked my work. I searched for formats online. I found two formats that are similar but not exactly what you needed. Couldn't remember what they were though. I changed the font sizes too to make it more presentable. I'm always for elegance. *Libra Mercury in the 6th House bro*

Remember this ~

There is nothing to fear but fear

I tell my son not to make *stories* up in his mind how things *may* be

In retrospect, often times, things are never as bad as we imagined them to be

🙂
Starlover, you always give advices I badly needed. I remember you were the one who gave me the advice not to quit from law school. 🙂

Do you love the law? That is, the actual doing of it?

Do you think about it even when you don't have to?
I have love/hate relationship with the law. I love it whenever it makes sense. I hate it when I have to memorize. I hate it some more for the fact that your handwriting and presentation of answers can affect your chances of passing or failing. Yet I still love it for the prestige. I want to be your sleek and handsome cpa lawyer whose briefs are elegantly-styled. 🙂

no rewrites.

yes i vaguely remember what it was...

something about the documents being genuine and legally obtained through the corresponding government agencies. it was not even a sentence so i pushed for not rewriting it.

Were you able to convince her?
