I'm feeling cynical but if it seems like balancing all 3 major aspects of being an adult is very difficult. Which are the two strongest aspects of your life. If you fit all 3 lol tell me how you do it

1). Happy Relationship with Long Term Partner
2) Successful career that makes good income.
3) Functioning Family/social life. (If you Dont have kids, then ample time for friends/immediate family)

I'm beginning to wonder if all three is possible. I have 1 & 3. My older sister has 2 &3. My parents have 1&2, at times they only had 2.

I have 2 and 3. At this point in my life, I'm working on myself, so I'm choosing not to be with a long-term partner.

Maybe I'm just delusional, but I do feel it is possible to have all three. It won't come easy, but nothing that's worth it ever does. Plus they may not happen in the "perfect" way you hope for, but that doesn't mean they're a fail.

I wouldn't trade my 1 and 3 but I wish I could get 2. Call me greedy. as a cappy i always feel the need to build something or climb somewhere. I know I'm building a family right now but there will always be that desire to want it all, including a successful career. But now looking at all the people around me and how even the most planned lives didn't pan out as expected.. I'm not sure if its possible. I think I'm going through the disillusioned phase of adulthood.

As for #3.. I have my family and relatives and very few friends (3-4)

I don't have very many friends either, but I do feel it's a case of quality over quantity. At this point, the people I call friends are very much family.

@purplepisces for me its the opposite. Over time my family is my family. I've realized that since I've had my daughter 99% of my friends dont include me anymore. I guess because we have different interests now. I've had to let go of a friend or two for being disrespectful. Its like out of sight, out of mind with everyone here.

My family on the other hand has my absolute back, even though I was a bit of a trouble to raise. They've given me and my husband a helping hand so many times without expecting anything in return 🙂

Well, situations do change and so do relationships. I'm aware that my current friends and I may not remain as close forever (people marry, move away, etc). I hope that when/if that time comes, I would be able to meet new people who I can allow inside my circle. 🙂
