Cigarettes. They could give you cancer

I thought I'd be a trend-breaker here since we've never had any threads blaming cigarettes for causing cancer.... but only pusseeeys.

So let's hear it, who's giving up smoking in the light of these radical new discoveries?

I've been smoke free for 8 months! Feels great!

Been trying to quit but it's SO hard. I'm a victim to my own mind so each time I try to quit the non stop chatter begins..not the schizo kind of chatter lol..it's an unquiet mind in a distracting way & a puff shuts that up. And believe me the cancer thing is a known fact, it's just that there's this "it won't happen to me" mentality. I even look at pictures of cancer patients due to cigarette smoking & they do nothing to make me stop..they just gross me out.



One day *sigh*

I work in the medical field. I see it everyday... And I still smoke. I've been smoking since I was 15. & in all that time I managed to quit for 17 straight days.. I hate it.. And I love it..

I'm not denying cigarettes don't contain carcinogens, but there really are people who develop lung cancer without ever having smoked.

You think cigarettes are the ONLY cause of lung cancer? Ever consider pollution, pesticides, household cleaners, car exhaust, smoke from a barbecue grill, heridity, etc? All those chemicals and vapors we breath in are toxic carcinogens as well.

BUT, as Tate indicated, oral sex can give you cancer too... best give that up Enfant!

As oppose to your vices, I am well aware of the dangers of sex and oral sex. I'm not living in denial like you guys seem to do, nor am I here to preach that you shouldn't smoke. I'm just asking you not to blow smoke up my ass just because you perfer to live in denial, grasping for every lame argument you can find to justify your smoking.

See it for what it is instead. An unhealthy habit that will gradually break down your body and your heart- and lung capacity. Cancer or no cancer, THAT you will not escape from!

Smoking is bad(especially if you have kids) and can kill you. We get it, but like any other addiction, you won't quit tomorrow. It's a process that can't be sped up just by reinforcing truth repeatedly.

I know this. I'm actually one who doesn't do that stupid preachy shit, tbh. I have a group of friends that smoke. I know they're aware of the risks and all that shit. They know it's bad and have tried to stop here and there. Saying anything would be redundant.

I only pointed this bit out because people don't seem to think that far in advance- not just smoking, but overall health.

But hey, if people attempt to stop such bad habits, props to them. It's why I don't say all that much to people who do this shit. At least they've tried at some point or another. It's the ones who refuse who are total assholes.

I quit for 12 yrs, started back after my sister committed suicide.

This actually reminds me of a story I read a few years back..a vegetarian killed by meat. It was hilarious to me at the time. I don't remember if it was male or female, but this person decided to go for a walk & he/she was standing near some building about to cross the street when this huge chunk of cow meat fell down from the building above & to the top of his/her head. Smoking doesn't necessarily mean death, just as much as standing under a building doesn't mean you're going to die. If it's your time then it's your time, there's nothing you can do about that.

Artists like to create larger versions of otherwise very small everyday things ie. a 6ft match stick, etc. Wouldn't it be hilarious if a giant cigarette fell onto some non smoker? I think it would be 😄
