Curious, how do you perceive September 11?

I was 30 years old when I learned abouttthis. I still feel and think it may happen in California.. I wonder what could people take down here. But it's nothing that stands out. I keep hearing it will come to California I mean LA. Fast forward, Boston Massachusetts, and Paris wow. It's sad and frustrates me. But what can we do. Except feel sympathetic and compassion, and give to charity events really.

I was 13.

It was afternoon in Romania and I was home from school. The house we lived in had 2 floors and in the afternoon I would go down 1 floor to spend time with my Scorpio grandmother and watch soap operas. My parents were there as well, having coffee and talking in the kitchen. Beautiful summer day.

I was thinking about calling my dad's cousin because it was her birthday. Then the TV went blank and within minutes on all channels we saw everything. My grandmother yelled, my parents went into the room and we all stared in silence for an eternity. My parents' first knee jerk reaction was to assume it isn't real and maybe there is a hollywood movie being filmed and it's just a fake building collapse.

Damnata, it broadcast automatically on all channels? In Romania? Wow...seems so unlikely...

Whatu, in Europe, if you have too much fun, they lynch you...

Yeah dude of course it did. It was a major event worldwide.

We probably got everything delayed but I remember there was a LIVE sticker in the right or left corner of all channels.

Well at that point we didn't have that many channels. Like I said..everything stopped.

I was 14 when it happened. I was on my way back home and came into my house right between the collapse of the two towers. It's something that happened and which impacted the global economy and mindset in a negative way.
The biggest advantage was that plane tickets to the U.S. became very cheap in the years after.

It's a shame that the world reacted by becoming very protective of itself and some countries even more than they already were.

Then of course the conspiracy theorists started popping up with their retarded stories and complete lack of understanding of physics. Even worse are the people that think they are being 'edgy' or 'sticking it to the man' by doubting the official story. They always conveniently leave out those facts that debunk their stories or put too much emphasis on eyewitness accounts. They are not very reliable and can be influenced easily. Especially with a happening as big as this one.
After all is said and done the best they can do is "Well isn't it convenient a camera crew was there/NORAD didn't intervene/so and so happened."

Listen to this Kevin Cosgrove guy..the female operator was trying to help him and he was being a smart ass & not showing any type of courtesy..it must be tuff to be a 911 operator and having to deal with people like him

I also imagine that Kevin Cosgrove attitude resembled that of most of the people that worked in the WTC..that sense of entitlement he displayed was inappropriate and unreasonable.

He reacted like most people do when they are faced with death. Trying to hang on to life or any semblance of control.

Imagine talking to any regular helpdesk. Can be frustrating right?
Now imagine talking to a helpdesk waiting for something to be done when on a schedule and your life on the line.
You either turn into an asshole blaming everyone, accept your fate or go hysteric.

Some people will claw around, climbing over anyone no matter who what gets in their way. Those are often the survivors that can live to tell the tale. Just not this time.

11 and in 5th grade. It was a normal day just like any other, that is until the class T.V came on. I remember seeing burning buildings, and the camera zooming in on people jumping out of windows to an inevitable death. I remember the teacher running to the T.V as fast as she could to shut it off. Then I remember parents showing up to get their children one by one. My parents felt I would be safer with the teachers and staff in the school and left me there among many other children. If something worse were to happened the school has a deep underground basement from back in the days America was afraid Russia would attack. Class went on, but nothing felt real anymore.

This attacks told the children that America doesn't matter to the rest of the world, and we are hated. The walls come down, and everything we see inside is pertained as a lie.

I was around 13. I don't perceive it; it's in the past. There are too many atrocities happening right now that I cannot be bothered to dwell over past events.

See, this is what Im talking about, the kids today see it as "an atrocity", and that there are many others...they're too young IMO, because for us it's not about the atrocity aspect, it's about the impact on western society psychology. It's the shock value...

I realized I actually had a good memory of the moment I learned about the attacks:

I was just going out of the shower and I had noticed the new maid in training standing just outside of it (it was a large hotel bathroom ) visibly shaking and handing a towel.
I let a few seconds lapse, letting the water droplets slide down my sculpted body in the warm controlled climate of the room.
Trying to paroxismally appreciate every water line as a pagan offering to the senses and the vanishing existence they were singing, I was also imposing the situation to the delicate creature standing next to me, creating a new mental imprint on the mind of my prey. Smiling calmly.

After a few second I grabbed the towel. The maid was not supposed to be there. This breach of the protocol was unexpected and I was curious as to what important situation could justify compromising the "education" that had just started.
-"You wished to speak to me?"
-"Y-Yes master, i-it's the towers...
-"the towers ?"
-"IT'S THE TWIN TOWERS, WORLD TRADE CENTER."
-"take your time and explain carefully"
-"WTC IS KILL!"
-"no."

At that moment we both d

It was a strange day.

I was 13. Just a few days before my birthday. I was running way late for my 8th grade English class, and I remember sliding through the door and feeling relieved because the teacher wasn't there yet either. Everyone was sitting around goofing off and wondering what was going on. When the teacher did show up she was crying and tried to explain that the WTC had been hit by planes and that it was attack.

The whole school was herded into the library for pretty much the rest of the day, watching news coverage and having to see the towers fall over and over again. I think it was more for the faculty than us. I didn't really understand what it all meant at the time, and didn't even start to fully get it until years later.

Mostly I remember watching American tanks roll into Baghdad, amazed that someone I knew was in one of them. That's when it all really hit home. It was like the world fell sideways that day and it's been a long, steady descent into madness ever since.
