Too much cake makes you fat anyways.

No it makes you pretty. You can never have enough cake. I am considering defecting to Austria so I can have it for breakfast each day.

****I just had cheese on toast🙂

Cheese toast is very nice. LOL I'm all sweeted out. I get asked all the time how I can bake so much and not be very large. Ahhhh the game changes a bit when it's in your face all the time.

Whatever floats your boat!

But if monogamy wasnt as natural than half the people in the world would not be able to do it.

So are you saying only half are monogamous, eventhough its completely natural? 😉

Wouldn't the entire population, or atleast 75% be?

lol Seriously, not getting into this.

It is what it is. Do whats right for you. Be gentle with others hearts, and don't stand for those who aren't gentle with yours🙂

So we agree, essentially.

I also happen to believe roughly half the population is gay/bisexual.

Point being if you "loved her" why did you think to cheat instead of think to break up with her?

Hello, is my microphone on?? The answer still remains, because I loved her! Why would I break up with someone I love just for sex? The thought of finding someone else I can love whose sex drive matches mine didn't occur to me, I don't think that way when I love someone. But in the end, things took out their toll. Intimacy is essential, once you think of taking it outside the relationship, that intimacy is lost.

Posted by venusianbull
That's what I mean though. For me it's what feels right, and what feels wrong. Going outside of relationship is WRONG to me. I don't understand all the laissez-faire, 'oh wells' attitude about something that in my way of thinking is a GIFT. Something shared by two people with feeling and high regard for the other.

I'm all with you, believe it or not. Intimacy is the most important thing to me. That and loyalty. So you see how far out I've sailed on that one? Love and no sex is the worst of combinations because you don't know whether to stay or leave. It's a lose/lose situation.

Posted by venusianbull
Since when is it not?

Oh come on, don't get cute. Sex can be two things, either an expression of love and intimacy or just pure genital grinding! Love, however... well, it seems to be something for each and every one of us to define for themselves. What are you willing to do for love? How far are you willing to take it? As far as I'm concerned, I don't need love in order to get an erection. But I'd rather have both.

I was not being cute, it's how I've been my whole life long. What wouldn't one do for love? *shrug* I've not been with anyone I do not have feelings for. I cannot separate the two. Sex for me is a bond. A promise made with my body to another. A gift to worship at their temple. A goddess at someones feet. Of course I have very real and palpable desire, but I can tend to that myself, give vent to it. I cannot go out nor do I seek something empty to slake the lust of my body. Without feeling it's as dust. I would feel soiled.

Who says they are? There is the way things look like on the surface, and then there is the way things really are.

I myself am a sucker for seeing things for how they really are, no matter how I personally feel about them. Hence my 'unsugared' contribution to this topic.

I just don't like when it's a double standard. If I'm in a relationship with a guy who wants to cheat, then he can't get mad at me for cheating on him either. So it might as well be an open relationship then lol. Personally I would never be in a relationship like that, I'm just using that as an example.

I don't really agree and I'll tell you why. First of all, a relationship takes two people. These two individuals have different needs and they come from different starting points, which they can hopefully match and patch up. But let's say they can't....

You say if he is free to sleep with others than you should be free to do the same, otherwise it's hypocracy? So then you agree it's a privilige to have sex outside of the relationship? Because if you are happy with your sex life while he is not, and you allow him to have sex with others while he forbids you to do the same, how is that hypocracy if you don't have the same starting point to begin with?

Whatever happened to compromise? I mean you are two different individuals with two different needs, are you not? Insisting to have something someone else has just for the sake of having it and not because you need it is logic at kindergarten level. No offense to you, Princess, you know I luws you (in my frivolous way).. 😉

Anyway, this is not my take on a perfect relationship. I'm just clarifying my conept of "hypocracy". I think the word is tossed around a lot without anyone really giving much thought into what it really means.

*And I get it, my whole scenario is a little unrealistic because no woman in her right mind would allow her men sleep with others because he's not satisfied with her skills. No need to bring that up. I was trying to make a point about hypocracy, not relationships.

Perfectly understood Aries, perfectly. There is freedom in it. To be utterly oneself with partner. It's a 'special edition' limited number. Not mass produced.

But despite all that our relationship is, my hunger will never be quelched completely, and I have to live with that everyday. I do it because the alternative is life without him and that would be more painful to me than my daily hunger pangs.
well.

Wow, you know exactly what I'm talking about! It's been that way with every relationship I've been in, more or less.

As you say, even if the sex is mindblowing one is still craving for "something else". But cheating or being in an open relationship is not an option for me, once you lose that intimacy it can only go downhill. It's not up for debate as far as I'm concerned. There are however happy, comitted couples in the "open directory" as well, but I could never ever pimp my girflriend out to someone else! Possibly if it was a girl, but then I'd want in on the action as well... and we'd be back to square one.. 😛

I believe (and people can take this as hippy-dippy, foo foo nonsense, but ah what can I do) that humans in a more perfect state of consciousness are less possessive and jealous, more loving and understanding of ourselves and our partners needs and desires, and less insecure. With minds more opened we could see that loving someone else and bonding with others besides our partner sexually is not a betrayal of partner and the bond we made to love and honor eachother...

Well written, exactly my point! I don't claim to be in a "perfect state of consciousness", but I know I am also capable of looking outside of the box and seeing things for how they really are -- regardless of how I personally feel about them.

I'm jealous, possessive & narrow-minded -- but I still believe with my whole being that "loving someone else and bonding with others besides our partner sexually is not a betrayal of our partner". I just don't think that humanity is ready for that higher state of consciousness. I know I'm not, but that doesen't stop me from being realistic about it.

Hey ok! I see that! LOL! All the cool kids are doing it? You mean all the dumpy 40+ guys who are ugly, dumpy, and out of shape as the wife they point the finger at for not being "sexually" interesting?

I'm not threatened, I'm intolerant. Plain and simple. I don't see that as freedom from the chains that bind me..the seeking outside of a relationship. I think it tarnishes it. Say you hold a great crystal ball in your hands, with butterflies taking wing inside. If you keep spitting on it the light vanishes, and you'll not see beauty any longer. How, HOW can someone profess to care about someone. Put them above all others in thought and deed..and look into another face. I'm content being unevolved. Here, hold my club..I need to forage for roots and berries before Oongawa gets home with mastodon.

Egos has nothing to do with it, Nights. Infact, it would take a person with quite a small ego to have the kind of relationship I described above; to be secure enough to let your partner love and be loved by others. Most need to know they are the Alpha and Omega to their partner, and that's fine, I'm not knocking it, to each his own. But here you all are being so rudely intolerant of another way of being, and why? How does this threaten you in any way? I don't understand that.

Humantiy is still at grass root level to be able to grasp these ideas :-/

Seriously though it's sad that people use "he/she sucks in bed" as an excuse to cheat.
Like you didn't try before you buy.

I don't know what kind of relationships you've had, but generally I'd say the sex is good in the first year or so of the relationship, so how exactly do you mean one should try it before one buys it? Unless you can work out some special deal, like "try it for a year before you make up your mind".

But the truth of the matter is, people change, for better or worse - especially when in comitted relationships.

You know what? Like you didn't see that shit rolling down hill. You didn't see that? She/he got lax in bed. Come on now.
Yes people change that's a given. So if you know that and there is a possibility of it going sour, WHY GET MARRIED? Not my damn problem you picked one that ended up being a dud.

Seriously, why get married. Its simple. No one can seem to answer that. Why do you want that commitment if you plan on looking for strange ass anyways?

Oh I've earned my gold stars in heartless bitch. Venus/Mars in Taurus. So I tend to be very stubborn and I will railroad anyone that messes with the bull. *Paws ground*

I just feel very passionately about this. I don't get why people would even entertain the idea of marriage when they aren't planning on staying faithful. Just live together and have an open relationship. But then again even with people who are cool with that idea *cough Enfant/Satori* tell us that when you start to develop really deep feelings for this other person and they drop you quick because someone else you two were involved with happens to be sexually superior. Get all upset cause they are being petty but wasn't that the rules anyways?

Yes I saw it coming, but I was willing to have us work on it -- correction, I was willing to compromise! And by that I mean I was willing to put the differences aside and just let it go. Let her have it her way, all because I loved her.

You know it's surprising that I'm the bad guy here yet I stuck with that girl for years simply because I felt love matters more than sex... and here you come and say I should have just dumped the "bitch". Wow, I wish I had your cool. Do you really reason that way about someone you love!?

Did I say you were the bad guy? No. So don't put words in my mouth that I obviously didn't say. I could cut you down and say that you are and probably go the hell off but I won't. I get that you have a right to think whatever you want. That's cool. But I am going to agree to disagree on this topic.

I have no idea what happened in your past relationship. Did you have an affair? Because I don't know the whole story. I would say dump her if you did. You don't really love someone if you are willing to go out and get some ass from another woman.

Venus in Pisces/Mars in Capricorn. Oh aye, I'm a romantic alright, reality is an icy mutha though. Aries Fire to blast and Taurean stubborn just for shits and giggles.

I don't look down on Satori, as a matter of fact I appreciate her honesty about her feelings. I simply disagree with them on a personal level. I rather enjoy threads like these personally. You get terrific insight into differing viewpoints. Even when you sit there with a 'OH HELLZ NAW!' look on your face. My 'downfall' if you will is coming in low and hard if someone disagrees with me. I'll do my best to *oh so charmingly* ( and like a Bull, shove them and push them into submission ) sway them. At the very least give someone pause or a lovely big bone to gnaw on. You know..some deep thoughts while they're on the porcelain throne. 😄

VB, be intolerant of non-monogomy in your own life, that's your right. But your anger and outspoken intolerance of others is misplaced and ugly. Any man worth having you is going to respect you and your feelings on this matter. There is no reason to fear or be angry.

The pervasive notion is that the institution of marriage is in danger today because of technology, sites like one in the OP and our changing views on the nature of humans and relationships.

In reality, people have been and are still very much the same as we've always been. We each go out and experience life. We love, we hurt, and we learn. You learned that committment and loyalty are of the utmost of importance to you. Others, not-so-much, and they make their choices accordingly.

There is not more divorce these days because people are unhappier in marriages, but because women have more opportunity outside of marriage to make a life for themselves. People may be more sexually promiscuous, but it's only because it's more permissable to be, but the desire to be has always been the same.

People haven't changed, society has and our ability to express ourselves sexually has, and for that I am thankful.

My point is that there will always be people who feel as you do VB, and there have been and always will be people who take a more liberal approach to these matters. You know what works for you and that's great, but one over the other is not better or right or wrong and you're a bigot to claim anything otherwise.

I'm not angry, I have stated my views on the matter the same as you have. If you'd like to put that stamp on me and believe it, feel free. If by situation or my years and experience came across in such a fashion, well. There it is. I make no apology for stating something I believe in. If you feel more liberal in thought, again, that is yours to hold, not mine.
