For the first time in my life I am debt free. The feeling is amazing to have zero pressure from the creditors world. I shall try to remain this way for as long as I can. Paying cash for everything. It's highly unlikely that my impulsive, Leo self will remain this way! For now, I am happy
hey good job.

there's a lot of cheap entertainment out there too.

Read lots of books.

even if you're a slow reader, it is worth it for a good book.

do some puzzles, and watch your fave tv series.

gardening, cooking, learning how to sew maybe? Very useful skill so you don't have to buy a lot of clothes.

food: don't buy cheap but maybe buy bulk foods. canning your food is good.

Good job. Start saving like a boss, because the concept of wealth is fluid. The amount of money you have in the bank is not a direct indicator of how rich or poor you are. What you (physically) own is more important. Invest and focus on your entire net worth.

I hope you don't sucumb to the greed monster again.
Buying stuff is like an addiction! I like sooo much nice stuff that's it's not even funny. I wanted a brand new truck and resisted the urge to finance it. I found me a nice used truck and just paid cash. This is what I'll do from now on providing I remain financially stable

It's usually a better idea to hang on to credit cards, but simply use them wisely. Some services require a credit card, and there are some that require a card that is actually tied to credit, rather than a pre-paid card or one that you can simply load with cash.

In order to receive credit products or to qualify for more credit, there needs do be a history of actual credit use. You need to use credit (responsibly) in order to *build* credit and get more of it. If you've got enough cash and you've set up a lifestyle for which you don't require a lot of credit, that's one thing, but it's recommended that you at least hang on to a credit card.

And for the homeowners out there, if you've got a mortgage then that's technically a debt. Even if you've got positive cash flow and equity in the house, it's still a loan that you're paying off. It's up to creditors and lending institutions as to how they'll look at that if one is interested in obtaining credit products. If you're paying it off and on time, then it's usually no problem, but for technical purposes it's still a debt, and depending on how an institution looks at that in terms of what they consider a "safe" debt load, they may or may not deny you certain credit products, though is my experience it's rare to be denied credit (with acknowledged subjectivity to the amount you're asking for) if you're paying a mortgage responsibly and you've got a great credit score to boot.

So don't cut up all of your cards, just use them wisely. You might need one in future, and their judicious use makes you look better on paper.
I'll be keeping 3 cards for emergencies. Never know if someone will get hurt or sick.

And thanks!

Create a car fund and make a $ 500 payment to yourself as if you were paying that truck payment. Then you can take your current Truck and the cash to get a better one. Keep doing it til you can pay cash for a brand new one. Keep doing it and you can get a new one every 2 to 3 years.
