I must toss in that what you see in sexy shops, is strictly lingerie, NOT a proper corset. They're not made for wear and tear like a true one. You absolutely get what you pay for.

No. I can't spend that much on a scarf, sorry. I have one Louis scarf though that I wear to bed! Other than that I don't own any designer scarves. I don't go overkill with too much designer stuff. I just mostly have shoes & bags. Shit like Louis umbrellas & Marc Jacobs pens & shit like that, is just a little too much for me. Yes they have MJ pens!! Lipstick shaped pens, lol...seriously?

Wearing a corset is surprisingly comfortable if you do not tight lace. The first time I wore one I looked about wondering where the servant girl was to help me lace up. 😉 Seriously though it is tricky to lace your own corset, takes practice. Tight lacing requires input, you wear a corset in time increments daily to allow your body to get used to it. This is most definitely what gives you wasp-waisted results. What most would associate with someone wearing one. I prefer over the bust, closures in front with lacing at the back. But how gorgeous. Honestly. That, a pair of silk thigh high stockings, heels..a silk robe, it just begs for it.

True. That's what I love about the Winter though. Scarves, gloves, hats. I have a yellow scarf & glove set & it looks so cute with my short brown leather. It's like a ligher brown though. Really cute. A guy told me once while wearing that set, that I looked like a chocolate banana, & he wanted to eat me. Hahahahaha, I wanted to slap the shit outta him & flirt with him at the same time. Shit he was cute. 😉

Me too! I have the real thing as well but the clasp broke and now it's just sitting in that pretty blue box. The thing I like about Tiff's though is that you can get your jewelry fixed for little to nothing. Not like if you took it to a reg. jewelry shop.

The ones in fluff shops are just for fun. You want strong fabric, good grommets, heavy cording ( some use ribbon for looks, but something stouter is in order for tighter lacing ) and stays made of steel. It will make your spine completely erect when standing, elongating the body and giving a graceful line. I personally think many different body types look phenomenal in a corset. From fairy waisted all the way up to bigger women.

You are absolutely right. I can't tell you enough how my mood affects what I wear and vice versa. If I am having an "off" day, I'm not as confident. I try not to have many though and that's why I go to great lengths to ensure that clothes and shoes are completely to my liking, never buying anything on a whim, making sure everything fits perfectly, always patronize the dry cleaners for the clothes that can't be washed in the machine, and just overall try to take good care of my stuff. I can't stand it when people don't value their shit!

Thanks for posting these and for the info!!! I didn't think the ones from places like Fredericks were the real deal so thanks for confirming. I love how they elongate the frame and make you walk upright...all dignified and whatnot. They are one of the BEST inventions ever. My fav's are the first and the last. Really cute!

I like that, it'll layer well under a corset. My sister has been bullying me into a pair of DM boots I've been lusting over for months. Not that it will take much, I'm just trying to justify the expense. But..but...

Oh man, I'm so frugal. I spend hours on ebay trying to figure out the best prices for things. I'm learning to love thrift stores thanks to my mother. Bought of pair of vintage boots for 3 dollars, and I wear them well (although, maybe a little too much. The soles are falling apart. Glue anyone?). Sometimes I tell myself that if there is an item I know that I'll NEVER have again in my lifetime, I force myself to ignore the cost and buy the item. It's nice to treat yourself every once in a while, especially if you know you aren't going to splurge like that again for a while.

I mean, most of my money right now was spent on repairs for my car, but man do I want to buy a pair of new shoes or a phone cover or something. Even a fucking book.

For myself, my son and sister, not to mention the furbabies. I was showing them to her and saying how much I dug them, she's back there tapping my shoulder excitedly saying "Get 'em A---! You never buy anything for you..they'll last forever, DO IT." I wound up poking it on 'watch' and said I'd ring the bank in the morning. She muttered an expletive. Hopeless. That and I'll check Goodwill, Salvation Army, 2nd hand, etc. Why spend xxx when I can spend 4 bucks and be just as happy.

I hear ya too. I'm really all about buying for less. I love shopping at places like Ross or Marshalls; I have a distinct style , but I'm all about buying cute things for less than 50 dollars. Most of my money is spent on groceries or necessities, medicine, ect. I very rarely buy for myself; and my aqua mother once pointed that out, gave me 20 bucks, and told me to buy something nice for myself since I never do. Although, since I finally turned 21, many of my funds are going into bar tabs lol. If I'm buying something less than 10 bucks, I'm perfectly happy. Yeah there is that dress or pair of shoes I'd kill to have, but it'd kill my bank too. No bueno. However, what does make me sad is trying to find a way to buy food so that I can cook many dishes. Like in the thread on the taurus forum that we went on about; there were so many awesome recipes, but I kept reminding myself that I'm on a budget when it comes to groceries. If you have any tips for the college student who wants to not live on ramen, I'd be forever grateful lol.

Being on the level every month keeps me sane most of all. Baubles can wait. If I do jump at something I do make sure it's quality though, buying crap just makes zero sense. You can see the difference between crap and quality..whether it's in a high end shop or on a garage sale table. I like the challenge of getting a good deal. If you want me to plonk down cost effective meal recipes, I'd be more than happy to do so. First you'll have to tell me what cook surface you work with, is there room for a slow cooker on a countertop and do you have ( or have access to ) a freezer. 🙂

The freezer space is of course shared with three other girls, but there is a freezer and there is a nice kitchen space. A good countertop and stove/oven.

I'm thinking of trying the lemon chicken recipe you mentioned but I wasn't sure if you used a whole chicken or like breasts or thighs.
