Who exactly makes these decisions? I'm just wondering.

I dont know if the patients should or should not come home. I know if it were mother or brother I would want it but who says "yea we are going to do something that has never been done in the history of the country".

Should we be worried or no?

Well I am watching CNN right now and the plane being used to bring them home looks like something out of a Sci-fi movie.

Could you imagine if you worked at one of the hospitals thats going to get them. What if your wife or husband worked there?

Who decides this stuff? The CDC? They just said this is the worst outbreak of the virus they have ever seen.

Wow Jeanne that's really impressive. Do you get hazard pay? Are you a scientist? I will understand if it is top secret and you can't share it.

I just feel like we are only told a part of the story.

What about the pilot of the plane or the people that work at the airport. Are these the people in the white space suits?

Jeanne I owe you an apology. When you first came here I thought you were a nut job like the majority of the folks around here. You are a really smart. That Taurus doesn't know what he is missing out on.

Yea E thanks for posting all of that. Just like a Scorp to smack us with facts.

I'm still going to stock up in bottled water, sardines and Little Debbie's. I hear they don't expire.

Anyone live near a fallout shelter?

I live in Ohio. My ex husband was from Burkina Faso. He told me he got malaria at 17 and they said it was a wrap. His father had to give up 5 cows or something like that to get him to a hospital that could save his life. You can see the vaccinations on his thigh. They left marks and it was 20 years ago.

Deliberate. Everything is falling in place. Disease. the wars russia and ukraine, iraq with isis and finally Israel vs gaza..sighhhhh!!!Why u bringing someone with ebola in a country since there is no cure for it. I guess they have to let the disease run its course and hope their body is strong enough to fight off the infection.

ok I'll admit I am worried. A person from my Pilates class is going to Africa and seriously concerned if he returns if he will be ok and the environment safe.

You sound stupid & go fuck yourself for making such an ignorant sweeping statement. Africa is a continent, a huge one at that & not all of us here have had any run-ins with ebola. We don't even know some of the symptoms because we're not acquainted with it & we're a bit scared too.

I hate when people make dumb comments about Africa. I was born here...I never had malaria, ebola, hiv or whatever infections some of you morons associate with Africa.

Our own borders & airports are taking protective measures by screening people because we don't want ebola in our country. Who'd want to bleed though the mouth, eyes & ears? That's like some horror movie shit for us too over here.

Should we be worried or no?

Those scientists at the CDC are probably salivating with delight at the thought of an infected American they can perform tests upon in the comfort and privacy of their own labs...all under the guise of "treatment"

After the poor bastard croaks, god only knows what sort of experiments the body will be subjected to.

But I ain't too worried. Well, not yet, that is.

Who said I didn't know it was a continent just because I chose not to specify the location. By ur own admission ur concerned as u said u don't want Ebola entering ur country in ur next post . So what's the issue? Urself stated u don't know the symptoms ect. That's why we are asking. Nothing wrong with asking.

We're concerned because we have a daily influx of West Africans over here. Which is where the ebola issue is most prevalent. Parts of West Africa, NOT Africa or west Africa as a whole.

You're talking about worrying about the enviroment, your enviroment, as if Africa is some infected piece of mud that infects whoever comes in contact with it. No, we're good & no threat to your sterile enviroment. And if you were really concerned about your friend, you would have done research to find out exactly where in Africa this thing is happening instead of making dumbass, uninformed commentary. Africa is HUGE, babygurl & not all of it suffers just because a few countries in it are unfortunate & plagued by illness. Majority are healthy like pure bred steeds just so you know.

Plus my post was directed only to you, not the others because unlike you they didn't spew ignorant bullshit. Even Elle indirectly corrected your stupid, snobbish comment by stating the fact that Africa is made up of 50+ countries & only 3 have an issue with this thing...& they're very faraway from the rest of us here.

WC---I know what you are saying and I get offended the same way about ignorance and sweeping generalizations... trust me.

But if people don't know--then they HAVE to ask---and those who know can give them the answers they seek...if once they have the information they keep acting ignorant--then well, that's annoying. But we all have erroneous information about *something*.. And yes, you are right, it is frustrating when people categorize "Africa". But people do it to Americans too... they do it to Russians... to Arabs... to Jews... to etc. etc... people can't be expected to know everything.

But I hear ya.. this is my biggest pet peeve is social ignorance. But I don't think that was what was happening here, I think people just wanted answers, and were willing to admit they don't have very much knowledge regarding the subject, which they can't be faulted for 🙂

Well, I'm still faulting her 😄 What she said was dumb. Full stop. She can't fake concern over her buddy, yet be unconcerned to research the place that could kill her friend & possibly contaminate her "enviroment" when the friend returns. Check & verify info before speaking out of your bedonk kedonk. I know you two are on friendly terms on here, however, she is not my friend & I will set the record straight when it comes to the place *I* live at. The Russians & whatever can straighten out their own blames, but Africa IS my baby & I will speak up whenever she is cast in a bad light.

I still like you, though, so please don't take this personal. Patriotism or should I say continent(ism) trumps everything else.

I really really hate cyber bullies because in real life, I would mop the floor with you in about 6 minutes tops and that is the truth my dear.

Keep insulting me or calling me names behind your computer screen if it makes you feel better.
My suggestion to you is to start taking your psychotic meds at the same time every day. They have less of a chance of wearing off and causing you to get so worked up over another person's opinion.

My point was this which is currently the top comment on CNN under the headlining Ebola article. I am going to reiterate my initial comment to you??_it is not reading that is fundamental but rather comprehension.

?? If it weren't so contagious these two individuals should not have become infected in the first place and the containment measures should have been effective. The fact that neither of these is true belies Ms. Wilson's premise. Both of these individuals are medical professionals and knew the proper precautions to take. That they became infected in the first place demonstrates how easy it is to make a medical error. Likewise, the transport of epidemic victims to a non-epidemic area puts that area one medical mistake away from the same epidemic. It is totally irresponsible of our government to allow them to come here

....and you know with Liberia being the only country in Africa that was colonised by the US....there are all kinds of military facilities to utilise, I'm sure.

Liberia is like a dumpster according to people who know the place well. I do not think they have any of that available. Rumour has it that they have only 1 paved road & it starts from the prime minister's house - the airport. Don't know if its fact or fiction but that's what most W.Africans say lol.

That's not to say I'm not following this event as a concerned US citizen.

But I also know shit gets blown out of proportion all the time.

hey question in main post is " should we bring them home or not ". and "who makes these "decisions" JESUS ... no, dont bring them home ! lets hope they die on the way! and never come back here. that s what the main post basically says! out of pure pragmatism! the post should have said if this was a "concerned us citizen ( like rabbit) " : Lets wish all the best to these 2!

Sigh and for the 3rd time...comprehension is really a necessary skill. My original post said "should we be worried they are coming home" not should we bring them home.

In addition, you can't tell me what my threads should be titled. Who are you?

Thanks for trying to defend me E. It's appreciated.

I'm glad it's not me because I would thrown an epic fit and they would not be able to take me anywhere.

*digs heels in*

Like a pig loves its sty, a bird loves its nest etc...everybody loves home. Doesnt matter what it looks like, but home is home. There's an emotional connection that's hard to get unless you're them.

Sometimes I watch how Indians love their country. I hear it smells badly of cow dung & all sorts of things. Others may not understand what they see, but to them it's mother India, their home.

I suppose, watercup.

I just wouldn't want to.....

1) endanger anyone else
2) be used as a science project

Personally, I think your people should be brought home if they're sick...incase they die. It must be extremely sad to die in a foreign country. You have resources over there, so I'm sure you'll manage. Put them at Alcatraz for all I care but let them be nearer to home.

Be pissed off at the media for their headlines for those who take things personally

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/obama-us-takes-ebola-outbreak-africa-24811980

http://www.theguardian.com/science/2014/jul/28/ebola-outbreak-africa-key-questions
So fact it there is an outbreak in the continent of Africa. No need to be hypersensitive with technicalities of a word. That we know it's not the whole continent is obvious That I didn't feel the need to pin point is my choice. So back off.

Back off or what? LMAO. The media didn't write something on this thread, you did, so I said something back to you. Whoever said those things in the media, I'm sure many Africans were making corrections directed at their tv screens or newspaper articles, saying "Oh not in my country!". I can't be mad at the media but I'll sure correct it when someone makes such a technical mistake in my presence. 3 or 4 affected countries is NOT Africa.

Same thing like when the media shows malnourished babies on tv, using them as the face of Africa to get donations out of people...Africans be like "Where dat at?" because your average African looks nothing like the skeletons they show to the public. As a matter of fact, we have never seen people that look like that. Maybe they're from some remote villages somewhere but to us it's shocking when THAT is made out to be the avatar of the continent. False.

Most people think so low of/pity Africa that when anything bad happens in one African country, they include her as a whole. We don't want anybody looking down on us, pitying us. Save it. Africans are very proud people.

America is riddled by serial killers & mad people in general. But you never hear the media calling America the land of serial killers. They always mention the state(s) where the serial killer is on a rampage. Yet you expect Africans to be just ok with being included as a whole in this rendition of a serial killer. No, ma'm. Name the country.

South Africa might have infrastructure but they don't have heart, it's still apartheid with whites leading the country, i would respect them more if they went to war and got rid of their inner cancer.

So they're basically dead people walking anyways. Nobody respects South Africans.

Sorry WC. Holla at me when ya'll start operating like Shaka Zulu and not pander to whites like Mandela did,(RIP brother man)effectively killing the revolution...for what FREEDOM, whats FREEDOM without LANDS, without resources...

Whites don't run our country lol. If whites were running the country, we wouldnt be having so many people from other African countries. Other Africans werent allowed in South Africa when whites ruled. Hell, even South Africans needed a passport to go to other parts of their own country. It simply wasnt allowed. We were immigrants in our own country.

And just because we choose to live together with whites doesnt make us weak or pathetic. We're simply thinking about our country. South Africa is still better than many African countries because of white people. I dont like admitting that but it's true. Whites make improvements & think better than most black people. Fact. Look at Zimbabwe. Look at the steady decline since Mugabe took the reigns. He made many bad choices, including running white people out of Zimbabwe.

People don't respect South Africa? Which people? The same ones that flock our airports? Look at South African stats. South Africa is always the 1st African country to be chosen for anything. South Africa has the biggest hospital in the world, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. South Africa provides electricity for other African countries. South Africa has the only ebola testing lab in Africa. I could go on. What's there not to respect when they make the whole continent look good? Making the continent seen as an equal by the rest of the world. JSE, Johannesburg Stock Exchange competes with the best of the best in the stock market. One of the strongest worldwide.

South Africa has more universities than any other African country. University of South Africa being the largest correspodence university in the world. 11 of South African universities ranking in the top 7% worldwide. Check quick South African stats. We won most golf tournament, 2nd only to America. We own one of the only 3 largest telescopes in the world. Lady Smith Black Mambazo won several Grammys. 1st Oscar in Africa belongs to South Africa. Looks to me like we have people's respect where it matters.

"Whites make improvements & think better than most black people"

it's not that they think better than most of us, they're long term thinkers ..
their plans of action are about constantly improving the lives of their descendants .. at least this was the case before individualism became the norm

many black/african people are all about enjoying whatever it is we have and praying to God/Allah/wtv to help us .. the latter part pisses me off

btw: did you know that during slavery, african/black americans ideas or inventions were credited to their masters ? then they have the nerve to say black people never contributed to the improvement of society

No, I didn't know that about the slaves & that's sad. Regarding who thinks better or whatever, it doesnt really matter because they need black people too to make those ideas a reality. Most blacks are good with their hands imo. I've seen some art & craft made with everyday stuff. Blew me away. In short, we need each other.

SN- the way some black people think pisses me off. Instant gratification. No education plan for the kids. No life insurance etc. Every generation always have to start everything from scratch. No "old" money shit.
