I prefer blood, guts, and bones over the Grudge.Having been gifted with a vivid imagination, I am more jumpy when it comes to things on the Paranormal side of Horror.
My brain makes the images a lot more terrifying than it original is.
In short, you could say I am more inclined to be afraid of unrealistic things than that of realistic.
You can't change how a Shark looks like. You can't change how it'll bite. You can't change how a bone will break when you twist it a certain way.
You can, however, change the face of the Grudge into something more gruesome.. because she isn't real.
Your brain can alter it around.
I'M AFRAID OF MY BRAIN.
I dk if I'm making sense.
Anywho, what's your preference?

Definitely gore.
Indeed.
All them SAW movies, Final Destination movies, Zombie related movies: Train to Busan, Resident Evils, World War Z, etc, Evil Dead, Drag me to Hell, and etc etc etc.
I enjoy them all.

Fantasy horror.. I've a fascination with the Paranormal since childhood.
Well I'll be damned.
Props to you.
I praise those who can handle Paranormal like Cotton candy on a stick.
I can't for some unknown reason, defend myself from it. I let it haunt me for the rest of the evening.

Whoa. Google sprung me some good shiet.
I shall check those recommendations out. Thank you. They look promising.
That movie Gif is a good one too.
Big fan of fantasy horror. Gore can only take me so far until it becomes predictable. I make an exception for zombie films.
Pan's Labyrinth, the Evil Dead movies, George Romero films, Event Horizon, just to name a few.

Oh Saw is good for blood and gore feast.

Oh Saw is good for blood and gore feast.
It got very predictable after the 5th movie though.
If you guys are interested in some mindless, pointless gore, check out Eli Roth films.
Haha sharknado was good.
When The Descent,The Ruins, The Ring came out followed by The Grudge, and Shutter. I was like I got to get those movies on Blu Ray. Great movies.
HOSTEL yeah Eli Roth is great director for these types of genre he does.
The Green Inferno.
Now I do look for based on actual events or true horror movies. So few and rare nowadays.

I couldn't finish watching Green Inferno. Cannibalism doesn't sit well with me even though I'm a big fan of Hannibal.
I feel like Green Inferno was kind of a ripoff of Cannibal Holocaust though.

Most of the Thai and Asian scary movies are great. I'll watch them they usually have subtitles I can look at. Lol. And I did see the Cannibal Holocaust 2.

Yeah, you haven't.
you say that you prefer blood, guts, and bones over the Grudge in your first statement.
you continue to offer that you are more jumpy when it comes to the paranormal side of horror, and imply that you are frightened of your own imagination.
it sounds like you can't make up your mind to be honest. either that or you don't like being scared, in which case you should probably stop watching horror movies altogether....
if you ask me, movies are movies. what difference does it make if it's implicit or explicit.... hollywood is fiction.
the real world tends to scare me more than movies.

The Grudge IS of Paranormal/Fantasy horror.
It hits me more than a Gore/Bloody Horror type.
Because my brain bends the rules with nonfiction/fantasy/Paranormal.
It can manufacture the given product and make it seem more terrifying or more corny, cartoony, etc etc, unlimitedly.
Because it's not real.
You still don't get?
I can watch Horror movies. I love them all.
What hits me more is the Paranormal type.
Le Gets, Monsieur/Madame?
The real world is not scary at all.
It's overall boring.
What makes it exciting is the imagination. Especially if it's brought to life.

I prefer to read horror.
The movies are not horror to me.
Books appeal to my imagination... the authors allow you a complete look into the minds and thought processes of the good, bad, and the evil.
Foreshadowing, metaphors, flashbacks, analogies, imagery, etc.

You cast your own actors in your mind and create your own soundtrack by the music that comes to mind or by the music you choose to listen to while reading.
Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series, eight books, is one of my favorites: sci-fi, western, gore, and psych thrills. A murderous train to which you had to solve a series of riddles. I solved them.
"Imajica" by Clive Barker is sci-fi. He actually made up languages that you can understand by context. Two books I and II.
Koontz Odd Thomas series... "Brother Odd." Monks, one a scientist who seems to envy God.
"Lisey's" Story by King
Robin Cook... "Shock" "Brain"
Of course "The Stand"
Anne Rice's Witches series
King's "Insomnia"
I could go on and on....

I am honestly excited for the new movies that are coming up.
'Rings' and 'Sadako VS Kayako' [The Grudge VS The Ring]
Have you heard about them?

I have only seen the Japanese version of the Grudge. I honestly put it so far deep down somewhere it has been blocked from my conciousness. 😆 Japanese horror movies are one of a kind I tell you. I think The Ring was the Japanese version too but all I remember was that girl. Hm maybe I only dared to watch bits of it lol.
My cousin loved watching horror movies and I don't know why I watched them with him but I blame him. 😆
Never again. 😛

I have seen the American Version of both Grudge and Ring, and the Japanese version of the Grudge. All of the Grudge series.
It's pretty damn good. Gets you off your chair.
But sadly, it does haunt me on certain nights.
Eeeeehhhh.
We should check out the new horror movies.
