So, how is everyone?

I've been doing some traveling.... in the last couple months I've been to the following places:

Seattle, WA
Anacortes, WA
Vancouver, BC, CA
Portland, OR

Phoenix, AZ

Toronto, ON, CA
Mississauga, ON, CA
Thousand Islands, Gananoque, ON, on the CA / US border
Lindsay, ON, CA

Amarillo, TX

The next trips coming up are through Montana, New Mexico, more Texas, some North Dakota love (I am hoping) and I will be in the Dominican this Christmas.

Anyone else been on the road?

Next time!

I see the various refineries there and my business has increased substantially. I'll probably be back before the end of the year, but if I can help it.... I'll push that out until after winter, lol.

I went sea kayaking in Anacortes while there out through the San Juan Islands and Puget Sound. Rockstar time!

It's pretty rockstar if you like hotel rooms, never being home, forced singlehood and some awesome travel thrown in. 🙂

Lol, nah, it doesn't bother me. I do have a little pot belly. I think of it as being like the Greek women who were considered beautiful.... check out some of the Aphrodite images.... she likes cheeseburgers too. 🙂

Funny story though, I started teaching theater to special needs children a few weeks ago....
One of them says to me.... "Do you have a baby in your belly?"
The mother gasps and looks totally mortified.

I couldn't help but laugh. I love uncomfortable situations. 🙂

I've been thinking I need to move out of the big city.... small town guys may be where it's at.

Big city peeps are too quick to recycle each other, don't invest in the first place and are terrible self consumed.

I. HAVE. THE. BEST. CHURCH. GUY. STORY. EVER.

Like, fucking ever. Ever.

It won't translate well on the boards, but let's just say I scared him back into the loving arms of his lord.

My most recent stuff..... had this dude I used to date resurface....

We started spending time together again. I told him that he didn't get to dance back into my life with all the perks and that I wanted to spend some time just being around each other and learning to trust again (things didn't end well, both of us were to blame).

He's a Leeb so we get along like fucking peas and carrots. Started hanging out again a lot... he was spending the night (no sexy times AT ALL), but we'd stay up playing Yahtzee and talking and being silly like only a Gem/Lib combo can. He would help me pack and send me off on my trips and then welcome me home.

This went on for about a month, spending a lot of time together, but not in a serious relationship, not even defining ourselves as dating.... then....

I took him to a party where all of my friends were. He meets this girl there and ends up making out with her. I see it all go down and leave him there. The next morning I wake up to him on my doorstep. DO NOT LET HIM IN.

So for the past week it has been varying angry phone calls to sappy phone calls to odd texts.

I know there is a lot of gray area and outlying stuff, but I'm still pissed and don't know if I am going to be ready to talk soon.

This is a good example for how amazing my dating life has been going. 🙂

I did like him otherwise, but I am having issues with the whole.... if he'd be that selfish then, why would I ever believe he wouldn't do it again when I have more to lose.

Trust me.... I wanted to throw a fucking fit. Like laying on the pavement kicking a screaming and the whole nine, but in the end trying to take the high road paid off.

I am also not going to lie.... watching him sit on my front porch the next day for an hour and a half was pretty delectable, even if that does make me kind of a jerk.

A lesson I have learned in life though.... there's no point in trying to guilt trip someone or show them how they've wounded you. If they give a shit, they'll be harder on themselves than you can ever be on them.

Yea, that's actually a healthier approach. I mean I don't know, I hate being fucking vulnerable anymore and giving people chances to walk all over me. On the other hand...I don't want to live like this forever, in this bitterness. They say love thyself first and then be loving to others. So maybe that's the way to do it.

What's going on with you to give you such a negative overview? Who's walking all over you, or is it one of those times where it's easier to ask.... who's not walking all over you?

Aw, CA it happens to the best of us.

It's hard to keep in mind that while we are committing and paying into someone we have to keep a reality check and make sure they are also in it 100% . Hindsight is such a fucking bitch.

There's nothing worse than feeling taken advantage of other than looking back and seeing the various places where you knew it was going downhill, but refused to see it.

(This isn't me implying anything in your situation, just saying I've felt like you have an it's been for the reasons above, maybe they apply to you, maybe not.)

You know, I spend a lot of time reading dating advice and so forth.... it is a common thread that sometimes giving them all when they don't deserve it can drive them away. It's the whole.... they don't appreciate what they don't have to work for mentality. Is it possible he didn't earn it from you, but you altruistically gave it to him anyway. That's definitely left me feeling shitty before!

I wish I was feeling drowsy! I'm waiting on the Benadryl / Melatonin combo to kick in.

There's not any specific reading that's been my help, more like googling and then reading article after article after article til common threads sink in.

Sometimes I wonder.... what would people think if they were to ever look at my search history?

I know everyone here HATES generalizations, but here's what I'm saying.... I spend A LOT of time going back and forth between big cities and small cities and there is most certainly a difference, a fundamental difference in the men AND women. I'm sure there are lovely men in big cities and assholes in the small ones, but overall, there's far less assholes in the little ones and far fewer awesome ones in the big cities.

You have to consider one of the oldest principles of the land... supply and demand, and then couple that with the genetic and animalistic drives and disposition of a man.

In a larger city, say Houston, where there's 6 million people there's MUCH more opportunity for the average dude to "spread his seed" without meeting consequences. In a small town the dude will run into problems if he acts like he's living in a 6 million person city when he's really in a.... say, 300K person city.

Take the following things into account:
Accountability vs Anonymity
Pretention vs Acceptance
Worldly vs Naivety
Sense of Community vs Sense of Self

I think one of the easiest ways to see this isn't even in my age group (late 20's to late 30's), but above and beyond. Houston is NOTORIOUS for bachelors, bachelors in their 30-40-50-60s who never settle down and continue playing around in the field. Something I see often on here when this generalization comes up is.... well if the woman were doing this or this better, she'd be settled down by a man regardless of circumstances. It's simply not true.

I know people hate this generalization most of all, but I feel pretty safe in saying, it's one of the more solid ones.

Doing pretty damned well really! Picking my guitar back up semi-seriously and jamming regularly, interviewed for a job that might be pretty damned good earlier this week (and it would keep me living close to home!)... would involve some travel around IL, IA, and MO though, and occasionally outside of those three states. If we ever end up in the same neck of the woods for a day or two I'll buy you a beer if you promise not to shame me by outdrinking me since I'm a big wussy in my old age. lol 😉
