Hm I think most of us here have pretty decent life..So what are your thoughts about this topic? It is sad really..

Anyone that you know that are your friends or family and have helped them out or could not be helped?

What I mean is homeless people on the streets: Or
Disabled people ex-Veterans at Walmart
Teenage kids,
Stranded hitch hiking people-flat tire or
or people that ran out of gas..

Do you give them money, beer, food, hygiene products, or cigarettes or gas?

Ok my experience with this is.
1. Had a lady approach me for a cigarette in the streets, but at the time I didn't have what she wanted. I gave her a full set of hygiene products though. I didn't have any cigarettes. But I did have shampoo, conditioner, soap, and deodorant and she took it.

2. I got stranded on the 215 north at about 3:30p-4:00p. My dumb ass didn't listen to my dad..guess what I got stranded middle lane on that freeway.. Do you know no one stopped to help a single white female. What I got was lots of stares. Finally about 30 minutes a guy helped me push my car to the exit lane. Then my dad helped me. Wtf from that point I don't help stranded peeps.

In my opinion, there are still many of us who help the less fortunate. Although there is a stark difference between helping others for the sake of helping and those would who help with an ulterior motive.

We may not hear stories of people helping as frequently as in the past, but often times that is because there are those who choose to be silent and anonymous in their deeds, they do not need the fame or the ego-stroke which others seek for. Then of course there are those who help the less fortunate merely to evade taxes and so forth.

I was on the freeway and could see a car flipped over in the median up ahead. I was astonished to see how many were pulled over and helping. 3 had fire extinguishers, and 2 were talking to the people in the car, and 2 more were on the phone with 911 I assume.

I sometimes give to homeless. A part of me thinks they should try harder. I have to wake up and go to work, and if I want to make more money I have to earn it. Why don't they? They just stand around and expect me to hand them things. Then the other part of me reminds me I'm letting my fellow man fall, which is the same as letting myself fall. We should stick together as humans, for we make the same humanity.

I do donate to any charity with kids however. Anywhere from money for their sport team, salvation army, and St jude. I always donate no less then 5 $ , and if I have extra money I'll give 10. I'm not exactly wealthy, but feel children deserve my hard earnings more then myself or anyone. I'd waste it on pointless expensive things I don't really need.

Kindness should be passed on and shared. People down realize the impact they put on this world and other people. Some don't realize how much the hands they were given can really do. Why help burn down and destroy when you could help build up and heal?

That's ok if you don't help or do. I just seen someone less fortunate hop out of a mercedes and makes me think the homeless have to pay the driver. And homeless stand on the corner and at the end they give a percentage. So we are being cheated when really someone dictates them actually . And some one actually told me this actually happens.

Soul- Definitely charity is a really great success. More people should try it. If they don't. It's ok. But major charity events that involves kids, animals, and cancer awareness I am all in..

I actually seen someone get hit by a car crossing the street. He was on his bike and looked hurt. We saw it first. And my brother got out and I am just waiting to see if I should call 911. No one came so I finally called. The driver had kids in the car too. And the guy who got hit, his bike was broke and he was bleeding. We didn't stay but called to inform the police. I really thought if we didn't stop they were leaving the scene. I am a nurse and get tons of hit by car patients..

I help as much as I can, though I am more choosier now about who I help.

I contribute to these things monthly for a set prepay donation amount:

- Oxfam international
- SPCA
- Government Mental Health association where I live

*I am on-call for a rape shelter to provide translation services (this I do whenever needed as I can do it over the phone) and fund raising (although this I don't do as much because I do not have time*

*I make micro loans to people struggling to get going in underdeveloped and developing countries. I don't really have a set amount, and when they pay back I re-lend it again*

I do not expect or gain any "recognition" for these things.
