Neverwinter Nights is a very good computer rendition of 3rd Ed. Advanced Dungeons and Dragons rules. I've played through the game a few times. However I never really strayed into the online portions of it.

If you're interested in that game 😄, you could check out the MMORPG's like Everquest(Fantasy), City of Heroes(Comic), Anarchy Online(Sci-fi)... there are a lot more, not many genre's are missed. Everquest has huge worlds, with servers supporting around 3000+ players at peak times.

Not that I know anything about these games mind you 🙂

My boyfriend and I played Champions of Norrath on PS2. That was a pretty good game. Liked it better than Boulder's Gate. I don't think it's too hard to save on NWN... when you log out it saves automatically for you and when you log back in you wind up back where you logged out. I like the cummunity games, although I play on a server that is devoted to the social aspect. Most people go there just to roll play.

It's pretty scarry though how much people can be addicted to online games, to the point of death. A whole bunch of kids died from Everquest. They got so upset when their characters died they killed themselves. Finalfantasy 11 as well. One person died of dehidration because he wouldn't stop playing the game to get a drink. I've read some pretty scary accounts of people who devote their entire lives only to a game and only leaving the computer screen to eat and go to the bathroom until they get kicked out of their apartment and are forced to move back home.

My boyfriend wanted to get city of heroes, but it's a subscription game, and he can't see paying for playing online. I'm not going to go spending my money on a new game, I'm not enthusiastic enough. A new car sounds more enviting.

I heard about the dehydration guy. What an idiot. A lot of Koreans submit themselves to online games--in Korea. They've subjected themselves to slavery by mistaking reality for a game. They get into real 'brawls' over potential 'enemies'...

And... the saving. I said that because some online games such as Shadowbane and Horizons, I think, you build towns and guilds. Sometimes your team isn't there to provide protection and security so hence, "I just played for 8 hours and lost everything I had."

My bestfriends boyfriend is obsessed with Shadowbane.... it's a bit pitiful when he starts STRESSING over it.

I used to be hardcore into everquest. I stop and started again. I've played or beta tested most of the mmorpg's out currently. I was in the Shadowbane beta for over a year, I actually enjoyed that game after it was released. Played it religiously for a month, until our city was destroyed. If I remember correctly my guild's city was the first ever to be destroyed serverwide. The guild was named Denied, the server was Mourning. I quit the game shortly after that because I devoted a lot of gold to building a wizards tower, and actually had control over it. I was slightly miffed about loosing it all, and quit.

I play these games for fun, never thought about killing myself because my character died. I would get frustrated at times, but you can't critisize someone for that. Anything that anyone cares about, if it goes wrong they get upset take relationships, cars, hair, sports games, or life in general. MMORPGS are a medium that many "nerds" flock to because there are other nerds playing. There's competition, its like football for people who aren't jocks.

I'd consider myself a nerd, but I don't game much anymore, I play DnD with some friends, put around Doom 3 a bit. But, I'm no where near as active as I used to be.

Super Nintendo still rocks, Final Fantasy 2(4 if your from Japan) still one of my all time favorite games.

Cappie G,

what I meant by "stressing over" is that he dedicates his life to it.. it's like his second reality. All he rambles about is shadowbane this and shadowbane that, don't get me wrong he's one of my good friends but jesus! put the damn game down!

YES super nintendo is still the greatest. I want to play super gouls n ghosts now... that game.... was extremely challenging.. but...so...fun. What about Contra III? Castlevania? Donkey kong Country? Kirby?! Star fox!! AHHHHHhhh.

Hmm, seems like someone might need to talk to him. Considering what you're saying, it seems like he devotes so much of his time and attention to it because he has nothing to devote himself to elsewhere. Its easy to devote time to a game and see tangible results, computers are predictable, where real life is not.

Starfox was awesome, StarFox 64 was even cooler. I was envolved in two StarFox competitions, I didn't go to state but I did win at the store we were at, the second was a disney world and I was first there also. Prize was a gameboy I gave it to my cousin since I already had one 🙂.

One of the coolest games I liked from the SNes was E.V.O its this game where you go through different periods of time. Following the evolution of our planet, from entirly water based, to amphibious to birds to mammals. Its really neat.

How do you get into Beta testing anyway? My bf would be great at that... Almost all he does is play games anyway.

The first Contra was the best, what was it... up down up down B A start, and you get a continue? Classic, just classic.

And why has nobody said anything about Link? Oh shame on you forgetting about Link! That's some of the best adventure games ever created! Adventures of link was good, and hard. It's still hard actually, I have a version for my game cube. Ocarana of Time was also another classic. Somebody pulled out his old N64 and was trying games to see if they worked so he could sell them on ebay, and he couldn't remember how to play the game. HERESY! Nick and I scolded him until he turned it off. Silly creature. Wind waker wasn't bad, it was just really little kiddy, a lot like all the games for gamecube. But there's a new link game coming out I read about, something like Zelda Gaiden or something... It looks supremely delisious. Link, you're my one and only virtual hotty!

eh...
I thought you hated Online games..🙂
Anyways go to www.mmorpg.com and sign up there, there is a lot of online game informations there fom new projects to beta testing and 30 days free trial of some sort you'll find it soon.
Be aware that beta testing "CAN" mess with your computer, so be prepare to get some kick.

-If your request as beta tester get accepted, be smart and get a back-up from your system some where safe incase of problem.
-Your system hardware must meet the demands of the game processing hungers, so the less attractive system with the lower spesifications are not always get the beta stage.
-least but not last....
Some games are soooooooo atractive and sooooo intresting that some might loose the reality, I happen to know some people that they first said, I know, and I m in full controll,then..... they lost their touch to the real world.

I'm a huge fan of all the rpg's so the zelda's are thrown in there. I've beaten every one except majora's mask on nintendo 64 and wind waker. I just haven't sat down to beat Wind Waker, close to the end. Since you have a game cube you should check out Metroid Prime, that game is so awesome, it made Metroid a FPS but it was done really well. Another awesome game for the nintendo was River City Ransom, it had double dragon like graphics and you actually fight the dragon brothers at the end but you go through the game beating up gangs for money to buy power ups.

9 times out of 10 for beta testing you need to have a good rig, since most mmorpgs are taking 2 or 3 years to develop the system requirements for machines are higher, since technology has advanced since the game was started.

I've got Metroid prime too... I just can't get past this one part... *sigh*

It's funny how so many people never finished majora's mask. If you get all the masks you got this Oni Link mask which completely destroys boss monsters. That game too was surprisingly dark. So many tragic deaths, I just feel bad for all the poor characters.

The next rpg game that looks interesting is Fable, coming out on xbox. It's a completely interactive game, sorta reminds me of Morrowind but more indepth and the graphics look absolutely beatiful.

Speaking of graphics the final fantisy series must be mentioned again in worlds greatest rpgs. Although, I have to say that my all time favorite was FF7. FF10 was ok too, but the main character was wayyyy too boybandish for my liking. Cloud from ff7 was messed up, granted, but he was def more bad ass than the jock in ff10. *sigh*

I've never played Majora's Mask, I'm going to get around to it some day hehe... FF2(Or 4 if you go by the actually numbering) is my favorite. FF7 had one of the coolest stories in my opinion, I liked the game and mini games in it.

FF9 blew mega monkeys though, the game was such a let down. The whole first half of the game you see the Invincable blast the hell out of cities, then you get the thing and can't blow anything up with it.... why give it to you at all?

Seeing as though my mouth seems to be intact I decided to post.

I, Luz, am one of those people who never finished Majoras Mask. I just find other games worth while than per-say .......Majoras Mask. Christ, I never saw that coming.

Fable looks awesome, I don't know if I should be the criminal or the hero.. *rubs chin* Hmm...

I tried Wind Waker, it's entertaining although very very kiddish but who the hell cares.

I loathe Final Fantasy games.... I find it rather boring. When I think RPG, I think.. Final Fantasy.

Anyone like Onimusha?? Rigar?? Gauntlet Dark Legacy?

Rygar from the Nintendo was great, I have the one for PS2 I haven't played it much but I believe it was very well done. Gauntlet Dark Legacy, its so-so, I think they did a good job with the game, but gauntlet gives me nightmares. When I was little I never thought that game could end, no matter how many quarters I put in it.

Fable does look cool, GT 4 is also going to be very good. I'm a fan of racing games, not nascar though... loathe nascar.

How about the first two Resident Evils? I always liked those two, also has anyone ever played a game for the PS1 called Tecmo's Deception? It's a very interesting game...
