Observations of a cynic
If you have those three rare gems intrinsic to your personality, and you’re consciously suppressing them to “get ahead”, then you’ll lose your sleep at night. You know what happens when you don’t get good nights sleep or enough hours in.

These are the three things you must destroy within yourself to get ahead in this world.
I strongly disagree. These are the 3 things you must focus on at all costs. If not you end up pretty much useless, and shouldn't continue to exist.
I have the above positive characteristics innate to my personality and I think I'm doing okay. 😊
you don’t have to destroy those traits in order to get ahead. any place worth going will require you to have these 3 traits.
if you’re currently feeling like you gotta drop these 3 traits, maybe you’re around some low vibrating people and you might wanna get away from them if you wanna be happy.
cuz the people you’re surrounding yourself with might be bringing down your optimism and morale a bit.
in other words, you’re feeling like you gotta drop these 3 traits cuz the people around you don’t have them.
i’m not blaming you. it’s not your fault. it’s probably just the environment you’re in. (obviously i don’t know you personally so i can’t be sure but yeah)
with that being said, i’ll say this…
when you’re dealing with rotten people, you will quickly find out that playing fair doesn’t work.
it’s actually best not to play with those people at all (just like that famous saying goes, “don’t wrestle with pigs. you both get dirty and the pig likes it”) but if you absolutely have to play for some reason, i would say leave your mercy at home. cuz “they” won’t have any mercy for you either. sadly.
people who are rotten to the core aren’t gonna appreciate you and treat you nicely just cuz you’re nice to them. it’s sad but that’s just the reality.

That's if you are lucky.
Otherwise it's likely one day the only ones left around you are those without a choice, using you, and like minded people. Finding yourself defending your position from the same tactics that got you there. Looking over your shoulder and sleeping with on eye open. While also guarding your closet of skeletons.
Does that sound like your cup of tea?
If so you would do well in politics and the criminal world😏

100% . I feel like those who possess these traits just have them and they can’t operate to the contrary of them. If they for some reason had to something bad by suppressing them, then their moral compass wouldn’t allow them to sleep.

a cynic is by definition, someone who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest rather than acting for honorable or unselfish reasons.
and most likely, op’s reality (the things he has seen so far with his own eyes) hasn’t proven him wrong.

that’s why i sorta suggested he hang around different types of people. (preferably better quality ones). better as in their personalities and morals and how they move through life etc
preferably sooner than later.
