Not surprising at all...THEY WERE OLD. Some old folks even die when they hear themselves fart. Scary sound! LOL! So news of death = fatal to such a fragile person.

stupid.

Thanks. But why? 70 years of marriage!! These weren't no spring chickens. Death at that age is a few knocks away & any major trauma can open the door.

You're totally missing the point.

Hence I asked for an explanation. What's this point I'm missing? They were soulmates, is that it?

Aquas so unsentimental. LOL. 😛

Sometimes it's good to live in reality. Especially for easily explainable cases such as this one. I'm sure the one that died last had a heart attack due to shock. Grief is not easy & I'm sure it can be deadly to someone in their 90s with all the health issues old people normally have.

This seems to happen quite a bit with old couples.

Dying days apart or less. Once your so aged and your possible last reason for holding on passes on, it is probably all one can take. Its kinda sweet. Leeb moon wants to go out that way. lolz.

some people can die from emotional pain. i've only seen it in old people actually. like when their family doesn't want them.

The last part is so sad. I met someone in that situation at the homeless shelter. They gave her her own cottage at the back to live like a queen. It was touching when she talked about her old friends, people she knew...all dead. It must be lonely not to have people you can talk about the good old days with.

Yeah you're still missing the point. LOL. The purpose of the article was not to point out that they both died. It was to point out that their love was so strong, that not even death could separate them. They wish to be together always. It was meant to be sentimental and romantic. Thats why the cause of death wasnt mentioned. Its irrelevant to the authors motivation for telling the story.

The pair had known each other for several years when they eloped in Newport, Ky., across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, on Feb. 20, 1944. At two days shy of his 21st birthday, Kenneth was too young to marry in Ohio.

If I did the math correctly, he was born February 22, 1923 which makes him a Pisces sun with a Taurus moon.

Anyone want to guess her sign?

Sorry but this one is not doing anything for me. I'm not moved. I'm actually very romantic at heart, btw 😉

I remember a story about a couple who met at Hitler's death camp. To me it was romantic *sigh*

LOL, it's like cloud gazing...you see elephants etc & I see clouds. Our brains interprets the same information differently. I didn't think Romeo & Juliet when I read this story...doesn't mean I'm "missing the point", though. It just didn't compute that way to me.

My aunt and uncle were born next door to each other just weeks apart and played together as kids. They started dating in their early teens and married before they were 20, they had a fantastic life together and were very happy, inseparable - When in their 70's she developed Alzheimer's and he cared for during that time, he was devastated by the loss of her. After 2 years she was so bad with Alzheimer's at this stage that she knew no-one. While he was out one day he had a heart attack and died instantly, she obviously didn't know, while his funeral was taking place 2 days later she died suddenly. Neither of them had to live with the knowledge that they had lost their mate, it would have been intolerable to them and it was very fitting that they died together.
