You should scan those again in high res, then run it thru Photoshop or similar and (save it as web) then reduce the size of it down to 48kb max.
See if they are visible.

3kb —three kilobytes?? that's the image size you try put in to your profile it is tiny and very small that's why their colour get truncated, your friend try to decrease the (resolution) by altering the size.
Rescan your image again in Hi resolution then run it thru the Photoshop or similar but this time (save it as web resolution) alter the size of it from there down to max 48kb kilobytes.
Bigger is not necessary better.

So technically your image lacks the sufficient pixels property, hence the bizarre colour or deformed details. Just tell him what I said and he??ll fix it..
