The apocalypse actually breaks out. World economies break off from each other, and throw up defensive walls. You can no longer go to the store and buy food, because shelves are already empty, or it's a complete blood bath. You also can't leave the country. Electricity and water supply go off to your house. You have maybe enough stored food and water to last 30 days in your house. But with no electricity you can't store anything raw anymore. What do you do? What is your plan of action to make sure you and your family survive?

I live near the natural water spring. Unless the water is somehow contaminated, I think that part would be ok.

I also have some land around my house. Nothing huge, but enough for growing food. Although I don’t know much about growing food and I don’t have the actual seeds. I should get the seeds for at least potatoes.

Oh and I have wooden stove for heat and food preparation. You can create fire by rubbing 2 stones together.

So I don’t have an actual plan, but I think it would be possible to survive at least for some time.

You think vegetables will grow in 30 days, how cute

I said I don’t know what I am doing 😢

One thing I know I can’t count on is the sense of community.

I've got food canned and have ways to preserve without electricity. I have a small number of friends I trust who do a well. We have access to protectable land, weapons that don't require bullets, the ability to use them. I know medicinal plants and have another friend who is more versed than myself in that as well as foraging. We have access to wood heat and while cutting and splitting by hand isn't ideal we have the tools. I'm not concerned.

I would probably attempt to gather as many close trustworthy people as possible, gather all sustainable food and water, take as much camping and survival gear as possible, then head deep into the appalachian mountains. Preferably people without babies or small children. A group of well trained dogs would be good too. I feel 10 to 15 people willing to work together could have a decent chance at surviving off the land. It still wouldn't be easy, but being able to take so much stuff we already have into the mountains is a massive head start. The biggest issue would be getting raided by a large group of criminals in that scenario.

Yeah I had a similar plan. I would definitely try and get a hold of communication signals. I've been looking into radio frequencies and closed networks.

There are survival/doom preppers YouTube videos available regarding this subject. If there ever was a time for something like this, it’s now.

We’ve had couple of blackouts and internet outages this summer and it wasn’t fun. Mainly because no one knew what exactly is going on.

For sure. Having not only a good group of people, but people who are good at certain things would be critical. Like I have a balanced knowledge of some things. I know a bit about survival tactics, and edible plants. I also know a bit about hunting and scouting animals. Having someone like you in a group would be great extremely useful. Also getting people who know a bit about tanning hides, and making clothing would be important. Also people who know about gardening. Like I would have no want to ever go back to society at that point.

Missing one thing everyone misses. Your going to need a library. In this case digital with solar kit and back up Tablets.

Unlikey you will have someone or people who know how to create structures, traps, and medicines(herbalism), basic tools and weapons etc. Let alone teach others. If people doesn't know something useful or can't keep busy, there will be social issues. Similar to how and why street gangs and general unreast starts in society.

There is a lot we all take for granted, the biggest is collective knowledge( wisdom) we accumulated and passed down from generation to generation. Most importantly in my book our blue collar trademen. No need to reinvent the wheel. Can still have access to all of that.

I somewhat mentioned that in a post, but I agree 100% that's why a person with your mindset and knowledge would be extremely important to a sold group.

At this point in this fictional scenario, I might actually want to start a settlement of useful people from dxpnet lol. It seems like many members have an extremely useful skill or knowledge they could bring to the table. It just boils down to how well people could work together. I feel the hunter, gatherer, and gardener a super important. People who can bring useful books, while also writing new things up is extremely important though. Someone who can easily see what happened, what works, and what doesn't, then write it down in a way everyone else can understand is a fundamental to human intelligence and survival.

Well I won't survive alone.
Unless I make friends with some doctors, policemen with guns, maybe people with a farm and we take over a prison or guarded community.
Like they did on Walking dead

Yeah but what have you to offer "doctors and policemen" aside from your friendship? lol

Ok first I thought you meant it in a bad sexist way lol

I would learn how to use a gun and be one of the hunters for the group 🙂 sexy resident evil mode

Learn bushcraft, pick berries, find someone who can start a fire. Filter spring water.
