Was it in the pages of a book?
Was it on a movie screen?
In the theater upon a stage?
A show, an album, a video game?

A history book?
A documentary, perhaps?

What are some of the best stories that you've heard, seen, read, lived
and why are they great?

What do they say about the human condition?
Was it life, love, death, rebirth, glory, defeat, knowledge, wonder, tragedy, comedy, morality or immorality that struck you?

Maybe it's simply an idea?
A fantasy?
A dark fantasy?

A single character?
A hero?
A villain?

Who or what do you relate to most?

Why?

*Not trying to put an unduly amount of pressure on your selections.
It does not have to be the absolute zenith of tales,
you are welcome to mention something you are into currently that you find to be very entertaining or peaks your curiosity.

@Impulsv

Somebody do you wrong? That's not a song you'd waste on just some man.

I don't know if I could listen to that on repeat. It'd just make me more sad.

But then again, you're a Scorpio and I'm a Cap moon so you're probably waaaaay better than me at just feeling your emotions. hahah.

Crime and Punishment (the Pevear & Volokhonsky translation, which is luminous), the Epilogue.

I won't give it away. 😉

"The problem is not that people do not accurately justify their crimes, but that all crimes become justified because everyone thinks themselves, in the words of Raskolnikov, "extraordinary." It is in this environment of moral relativism, which Dostoevsky warned us of years ago, that we live today. And we are still fighting to save ourselves. "

"Some actions, including murder, are mala in se (evil in and of themselves) (Schmalleger 135).This standard can be known, Dostoevsky holds, not through reason but through the human conscience. In the eyes of Dostoevsky, actions are either right or they are wrong. Ethics are not relative. Accordingly, Raskolnikov had no right to murder the usurer, his reasons notwithstanding (Frank Dostoevsky 69).

there are plenty of great stories.

the modern great story is "the gladiator"

although it is not modern since it's portrayed back then.

Useful link, by the way, lis. For anyone interested in such a study it's a great addition to the existing literary criticism on C&P.

you're welcome. "crime and punishment" is also taught in high school.

but it can be taught in-depth at universities, if people want to pursue that.

also there's alot of films (modern) that portray this.

One of the things I love the most is that if you reread at after some years and again..there's always a new perspective on it.

Have you seen Troy? And if so, what did you think of it in comparison?

I'd say Metal Gear Solid, the entire series from 3 to 5 that's just about to come out.

"If you ask me, there's no happiness to be found in death. No peace either. I'm leaving this place alive." - Solid Snake

I saw the trailer for 5 where they arrest Quiet. It looks sweet.

Never played any of them though. Just watched a couple let's plays.
