What killed the fun?

Kept hearing how this place has seen better days.
So what brought on the Dxpnet dark ages?
How different was the golden age?

I don't think it's the dark ages now.

But a lot of old posters stopped coming and replying. Maybe they are lurking or just moved on.

All the questions about signs have been already answered if people would go back beyond the 65 pages of every sign. So folks who would have input to give in new topics..have heard all of them for years so I think they got bored of replying.

Only Misc seems to be a fresh board because we talk about events in the world as they unfold.

I liked it more when I was lurking but I think I feel that because I'm a nostalgic person. Nothing wrong with it now..I just see some of its past through rose colored glasses. There seemed to be a greater variety in people.

I don't think anyone has a duty to make things fun for anyone.

We just interact on some topics and not on others.

It was fun when mr defense was here, pisces moon was chasing dimples, xv1127 drop down a message I was e married to him but he chased geminicandle and then she was fighting with elle and seraph lol then there was virgohero and boom and then the black virgo guy damn was his name? The musician. then there was dazed and grey. I guess it was really fun when everyone was either fighting or fucking lol

Oh ya and purr was here fighting with scorched lol ok, ya the fighting was fun

It was more fun when EverEvolvingEpithet was still here and when James Tate was still active. Also, when I still appeared "innocent." Everything began to slow down when I started posting topics about the girls in school who have a crush on me. It turned off some of the girls here (they probably realized I wasn't too innocent after all). 😢

Other things that changed:

1. No more fighting. I agree with KittenLaRouge. Lol.
2. CluelessCancer finally gained sanity.
3. Don Johnson no longer posts about the signs.
4. Ands didn't win in the Hammie Awards 2014
5. GeminiCandle is nowhere to be found
6. People became worried about me, either because I got ePTB or because we were visited by two typhoons and the volcano nearby erupted.

I'm not sure if it's because of the chat. I loved it when the chat was still up. Is it still up now? I don't visit it anymore coz I'm too busy nowadays.

I think the golden age of DXP is definitely 2013 when everything about astro still mattered to most of us. Nobody's posting about the signs anymore...

What your witnessing is the changing of generations. Older people complain things aren't as awesome because the newer generation comes in with their own idea of awesome, and neither generation understands each other.

It's the same with music or movies. They say entertainment is nothing like the 70's or 80's. My generation thinks things suck compared to the 90s and 2000's. If you were to ask a kid 10-17 however life is awesome and makes sense in their eyes, because they are still young enough to create their own reality.

Nonetheless the world you see is a direct reflect of who you are or how you feel.

2013? no. 2010? no. 2009? yes. well, for me.

it was fun when you discovered it. It was the spring for you. What does come after spring?

it's not about aging (because un?fortunately enough happens within decades).

The boards pretty barren. Not much to talk about, people aren't making friends or the friends are off in chat?

Dunno.. I personally feel like things weren't taken so seriously a few years ago and interactions were light. There used to be more goofing off, though I think most of that now happens on the scorp boards.

I've made some friends here. Everyone's welcome to my Facebook too. I like meeting new people.

I agree with hints to chat section. And the speed. and service.

also maybe cause kids use mobile version which is not good? less and less workplaces allow internet surfing? fun is killed with war and crisis on the TV?

More people need to open up and share ideas/creativity in topics.

Maybe it's not different generations but life making people feel less useful.

I'm no saint, I mean I've been here a year and yet to make one topic. I've had many ideas, but fear rejection, misunderstanding, or showing weakness.

If more people were less scared to post a topic we would see lots of interesting things come up.

i think i miss the random threads the most. the one's that had no purpose other than to say good morning, vent about your day, talk about music, aspirations, relationships.. all bundled into one crazy thread. those were entertaining.

That's what I mean. I've seen people post around 5 threads that sucked, but the 6th thread was golden.

It's the first few that get people scared of rejection or being ignored, so the chance of a golden thread is lost.

People like me who don't even take the chance whatsoever are even worse. I never even tried to share my thoughts via thread.
