According to Oxford Dictonaries, the term "themself" is not widely accepted and should be avoided in formal written contexts.
What are your thoughts on this? Should we stick to the similarly awkward phrase "himself or herself" or would you rather keep it simple, i.e. use the term "himself" regardless of the sex or gender of the subject?
Wide or narrow acceptance is not so important to me, but style is. After all, writing is more an art than science. Take away those grammar rules and let's communicate instead.
