What do you remember about the good ol' dxp days?

Remember ages ago, when dxp was so much busier? You could spend hours on here without getting bored and there were way too many users and juicy gossip threads to ever keep track of (for me, anyway). I used to come here with a glass of wine in the evening time and by my third glass I was like .. what the hell is going on here. So much drama.

Anyway, what kinds of things do you remember happening on dxp? Not just the gossip, other stuff as well.

I remember this thread where we were posting words that started with the letter that the last word ended with. Literally used to kill seconds here waitng for replies to my posts.

Gif threads.

I remember one evening a bunch of us had this joke/ comedy thread going strong for a while and my cheeks were aching all night from laughing.

Random unusual picture threads.

Tumbleweed gifs when no-one replied within an hour or something.

So many unique characters, I miss some of them.

Yeah it was fun and informational above all. I learned so much from this site and continue to do so.

I would come in here to check out how the world was vibing, people from all corners would post on the front page.

The new generations just want that instant Tok tok gratification.

What kept me here was that dynamic the people had with each other. People were much more open without fear of getting doxxed or obsessed about.

I miss too when ppl talked more about astrology. It’s crazy how dead this site has become. I remember not being able to get off this forum even when I wanted to because it was taking too much of my time. Now I can’t stay long without getting bored

I actually preferred the soft era, less social posturing, more community eventhough it was dead there was still genuine engagement, and less focus on social optics.

After that happened a few times, im not surprised the vibe completely changed.

Why post a photo of yourself if several users have already admitting to saving every personal photo put up?

Several top tier users no longer post here due to the insanity of the obsessives.

Also the members with genuine astrology knowledge stop posting, or stopped sharing it. Those threads would always generate interest before.

Influx of youth has dried up. Youthful members would bring fresh energy, takes and topics.

Some very nice conversational members were chased away by some real pieces of shit.

True. I remember that. Like people had full files of other people, saved posts pm's and photos. In fact now that you mention it, I'm sure there was this older Virgo fella who used to do that. So that when people had arguments and deleted accounts, they'd come back with all the info. I secretly called them the dxpolice.

Was he called Q bone or something, with a gold Q? Or was it the other Virgo?

What do you mean by social games, do you mean like gossiping/ drama or word and picture games and things?

@hydorah I remember you around but I don't think we spoke very much back then did we? I was here from late 2008/ 2009 and i remember soon after things got a little cliquey what with that whole witch hunt and things.

I miss being a C, even D tier member in an era of popular members. That shit felt amazing, because I always had something to post about. I loved crashing the dxpnet awards every year, because I knew I'd never win a category. I loved being a mixture of a wild animal, but also sometimes philosophical because I knew there was a constant influx of new members coming in and out. I miss the dxpnet mafia games, and hold the badge of the angels vs demons game. I was the master demon, aka Satan, and lied/ manipulated every single one of those pos angles and won. Damn, even making the chill music thread which still exists till this day makes me feel good. Oh, then there is the rest of you. Yea, you all are alright I guess, living in my world 😁 I'm 100% joking and love all of you. Some more then others, but even if you absolutely hate my existence I get it. I can be wild, unhinged, and a dick. In reality I'd give you all respect and would even pay your tab irl. I'd even defend your stupid ass, even if you trolled me. I consider dxpnet somewhat of an online family.

She was the one who hooked me into this website until I surfed more but I went tentatively so I didn't follow through all about dxpnet thoroughly.

Apparently, DXP has low a bandwidth limit. Edited my post 10x times - removed the .gifs and video too - and still wouldn't post (stuck while pressing "Post Message"). Only above post (testing 1,2,3..) made it through (getting reposted 5x times). Among other things also mentioned - about the time we used .gif images as a form of expression (answering to topics and such) - which was quite common back then (for a lot of members), DXP was more like Tumblr or imgur - in this regard... But that's just not feasible anymore. :\

So i'll try adding it by turn with multiple posts...

I remember the Vocaroo topics: the voice reveals (sort of) - where some would voice a small phrase (saying hello and whatever was on their mind at the time), other would sing - while others (if not most) - were mostly clowning around (guilty as charged 🤡).

We also had couple of selfie topics (every year or so). I mean, sure - some members treated DXP like FB/IG - posting a selfie on a weekly basis (even multiple selfies in a single days) - but they became the usual (those faces you got used to seeing) - while most were anonymous - so that was a nice touch, i guess (a voice an face reveal - is how things got more... personal).

We even celebrated our birthdays - with a dedicated topic filled with birthday related .gifs for the ones in question or a simple happy birthday. The personal astro charts - had the date of birth on them and some remembered that detail (not necessarily in a romantic way, more often than not - it was their presence on DXP what made it memorable - as if living in a really small town where everyone knows your name and birthday) - but some also got rather personal with another through DMs (to personal - meeting in real life, even dating or emotionally attached - while keeping so often in touch, but also - emotionally exploitative - to the point where simping gone wrong turn suicidal or at least one was hinting to that - maybe trying to get his money back while emotionally exploited for financial support then blocked... 🤔) .

Then there was that mafia game, were some would get the roll of an impostor - and you had figure out which was whom or you'd get stabbed in the back or... something like that... Never really played it - so i don't know the actual rules - but it was really popular for couple of years. It caused a lot of drama too (kinda ironic... for a game to actually cause hate for one another - to such extent).

We even had a DXP YouTube Mini Series - short video edits (south park style ) - involving the usual DXP suspects (with the photo on top of a character and scripted voice-over) - acting out some silly scene in a way that resembled their DXP persona (how they were acting on DXP). Rather creative and actually funny here and there (hilarious even) - i give you that. Don't know if it's still on YouTube anymore... 🤔 I think the DXP Admin did that. He became/was part of the community for a short while - but then disappeared (a DXP fling gone wrong or right - i do not know - only remember he was involved with someone for awhile and then disappeared - and neither posted anything again - "at least for the time i was active on DXP").

So, yeah... "DRAMA/S" is/are probably the most memorable part about DXP.... Getting personal is what made DXP fun back then, but getting to personal on DMs and trying to turn that fantasy into reality - is a big part of what broke the DXP spell (deleting their acc and going/staying away for good - after blocking each-other on all other social media platforms - i presume). Well, some members actually died (terminal diseases) - so there's that too... While others are still around (by the looks of it). Most of the ones that came back - had a habit of deleting accounts and creating new ones (be it trolling or a way to quickly delete their shared info and start all over again, or not...), i see that part remain the same.

Had my share of Dramas too i give you that - but looking back, my naivety and strong moral compass - was mainly to blame (should have known better - since knowledge was on my side, but emotional triggers of past childhood traumas - overlapped my logic, temporally... it's usually how it goes - we all know that). Tho, with time passing - i understood that those experiences - are worthy of gratitude. The only regret... one time was not enough for me to figure out something so obvious (90% was more of a fantasy - which had more to do with the image in my head - than the actual person). Thus, end-up repeating that experience - and the pain of emotional stupidity that comes with that). It is what it is and was what it was. I remember everything - but can't relate anymore (or barely) - with whom i used to be back then (on a deeper level). This days - i prefer/learned to keep it real (with people i can vibe in real life on a personal level).

As for DXP, everyone wants an Argentina...

I know a ton about the red knee, scientifically known as the Brachypelma Hamorii. Surprisingly I never owned one, but I do have 2 Ts from the Brachypelma genus. Currently I have 23 tarantula. I've always studied the scientific names, so i dont know the common name for all of them.

Do you handle the old world tarantulas? I learned to handle them learning animal care in the 'reptile room'. The red knee is one of the most docile i know, used in the Indiana Jones movies i heard.
