Posted by clarePosted by SoulPosted by clareI know a ton about the red knee, scientifically known as the Brachypelma Hamorii. Surprisingly I never owned one, but I do have 2 Ts from the Brachypelma genus. Currently I have 23 tarantula. I've always studied the scientific names, so i dont know the common name for all of them.Posted by Soul
I miss being a C, even D tier member in an era of popular members. That shit felt amazing, because I always had something to post about. I loved crashing the dxpnet awards every year, because I knew I'd never win a category. I loved being a mixture of a wild animal, but also sometimes philosophical because I knew there was a constant influx of new members coming in and out. I miss the dxpnet mafia games, and hold the badge of the angels vs demons game. I was the master demon, aka Satan, and lied/ manipulated every single one of those pos angles and won. Damn, even making the chill music thread which still exists till this day makes me feel good. Oh, then there is the rest of you. Yea, you all are alright I guess, living in my world 😁 I'm 100% joking and love all of you. Some more then others, but even if you absolutely hate my existence I get it. I can be wild, unhinged, and a dick. In reality I'd give you all respect and would even pay your tab irl. I'd even defend your stupid ass, even if you trolled me. I consider dxpnet somewhat of an online family.
I used to like posting on your music thread and always so kind when I pm, you're a great listener. I noticed you have tarantulas, I used to have a Mexican red knee. What breeds do you have?
New worlds:
Brachypelma Klaasi
Brachypelma Boehmei
2 Grammostola Pulchripes
2 Grammostola Pulchra
Grammostola Iheringi
2 Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens
Psalmopoeus Irminia
Psalmopoeus Cambridgei
Caribena Versicolor
Nhandu Tripepii
Nhandu Coloratovillosus
Aphonopelma sp. Tamaulipas
Tliltocatl Vagans
Thrixopelma Longicolli
Hysterocrates Gigas
Theraphosa Apophysis
Phamphobeteus Mascara
Old world:
Pterinochilus murinus (orange form)
Pterinochilus murinus (dark from)
Monocentropus Balfouri

Do you handle the old world tarantulas? I learned to handle them learning animal care in the 'reptile room'. The red knee is one of the most docile i know, used in the Indiana Jones movies i heard.click to expand

@soul mine never ran at all, very slow movements only. I was especially careful, as falling on their abdomen can be fatal. That's cute about your scorpion.

I'll put it this way, out of all I listed there are only 2 I would handle. A few others i could likely handle, but they have some of the worst
urticating hairs. My Grammostola Pulchra is the most chill T I have, and the reason I dont hold it is because its still a juvenile. All the others are either too skittish, or have bad urticating hairs. I've got them on me just doing maintenance, and it sucks. It's like fiberglass but worse, and you actually become less immune to them over time. Some people can't even be in a room with new worlds because it makes them itch. Since 90% of my collection is new world, I don't want to take chances.
When it comes to the old worlds, none of mine seem like they would be ok out of their enclosure being handled. They are extreamly fast, defensive, and skittish. Unlike the new worlds, old worlds dont have urticating hairs. Instead they have the most potent venom, and extream speed. Last thing I'd want is to know one of my old worlds is the aphex predator of arachnids thriving somewhere in my house. Also the difference between old and new worlds is the continent they come from on North America and South America only have new worlds, and the other side of the map is all old worlds. Lastly I just want to mention even with old worlds having potent venom, there has never been a human death related to getting bit by a tarantula. Will it be some of the worst pain you could potentially ever experience? Likely, but it's not like some snakes, scorpions, and whatnot that kill many humans yearly. Tarantula are pretty harmless to humans overall, and only bite as a last resort to survive against larger animals. They need that venom for pray, not to be wasted unless absolutely necessary.
I tried as hard as I could to make this a single paragraph. When people start talking about tarantula I get excited 😁click to expand

I'm just trying to imagine all your tanks lined up for these. I had mine around 20 years ago after being taught in college to handle them, but I'm not sure they teach the same these days as they're likely more security and safety conscious now. I didn't even really have much access to the internet then. If it did escape it wouldn't have survived, not in the climate here. Just the thought of them breeding and growing in numbers in the corner of your house..click to expand

Well, for that you would need a male and female to both escape, but even then they likely wouldn't breed. Male tarantula mature much earlier then the females, and have a much shorter lifespan. From one brood of let's say a Psalmopoeus irminia, the females live 10 to 20 years. The males however mature out quickly, and only live 3 to 5 years. This ensures that inbreeding will be virtually impossible, because the males will die out years before their sisters from the same brood are even mature enough to reproduce. This is a pretty impressive evolutionary trait imo.click to expand

waiting for the next exposé was like waiting for the next Harry Potter novel
so many emotional interpersonal relations to study, like a reality show

I loved reading the Harry Potter novels and learned so much from people watching on here. In terms of reverse engineering, well, people are open to revealing the degree of their Pluto placement and it's all you need on top of the personal ones, really. Or Neptune, but that's much more elusive.
Did we have 'what degree/ sign is your Pluto' threads? I mean, different Pluto generations approach topics and things differently as well, don't they.

Toward the end of the popularity peak it wasn't that good
1-people were extremely toxic to each other and made cliques
2-60% of the population would disappear into these social games and do nothing else, and those who didn't play those games would be left with an empty board.

Idk when the popularity peak ended but I remember the weird social games. But that's when it got most interesting to me because I got close to the social butterfly queen and she gave me the inside scoop on everyone.click to expand

We even had a DXP YouTube Mini Series - short video edits (south park style ) - involving the usual DXP suspects (with the photo on top of a character and scripted voice-over) - acting out some silly scene in a way that resembled their DXP persona (how they were acting on DXP). Rather creative and actually funny here and there (hilarious even) - i give you that. Don't know if it's still on YouTube anymore... 🤔 I think the DXP Admin did that. He became/was part of the community for a short while - but then disappeared (a DXP fling gone wrong or right - i do not know - only remember he was involved with someone for awhile and then disappeared - and neither posted anything again - "at least for the time i was active on DXP").

I remember this dude who used to call himself "thebiggcarlos". I been thinking about him sort of recently wondering if he's ok and if life's been treating him well. Most importantly I wonder if he ever lost any weight yet. Yeah those were some good dxp times.
