An emotional Minnesota mother announced Wednesday that she was suing her transgender 17-year-old daughter, St. Louis County, its school district and the girl’s health-care providers over a state law that allowed the teen to undergo gender reassignment procedures without parental consent.

The woman, Anmarie Calgaro, is demanding that all therapies for her child — whom she and her lawyers refer to as her “son” in the complaint — be halted until she can petition a state court.

“Not only was I robbed of the opportunity to help my son make good decisions,” Calgaro said at a news conference, “but I also feel he was robbed of a key advocate in his life, his mother.”

I don't like articles about transsexuals because the pronouns are always confusing me, so I give up trying to understand what's going on

But not only are you robbed of the opportunity to help your son make good decisions, your son is robbed of a key advocate in his life, his mother.

but shes suing her son/daughter directly? that doesn't make sense? why not the people that did the deed?

She's suing the clinic too, but they were following their state law that allowed it.

Since when is it legal to do this with a minor?

As far as I knew, you couldn't even give a kid ASPIRIN without

parental consent... nor could you get your ears pierced or even

a tattoo-- but abortion and gender reassignment are okay?
