Yeah Martyrs is worth watching. Cause its shocking. Let me know when you get around to watching it so I can ask you the golden question.
All those are great. Eraserhead blew my mind just crazy and bizarre. Canibal Holocaust upset me because the animals filmed where really killed. That hurt me. I thought it was despicable and irresponsible of the director and i know all about the argument that the animals were going to be killed anyways...but I dont care. I hate seeing animals suffer. The scene with the aborted baby thrown to the pigs didnt upset me as much as the poor animals that suffered for shock value. Ichi the Killer was just pure fun.
High Tension was awesome but it didnt make my list because the screenwriter seemed to get lazy and came up with a semi-lame ending and the sequences make no sense once the killer is revealed, still worth watching though.
Some of the sickest, most disturbing horror films I've seen were from Japan. The concepts and plots they come up with over there are so messed up that you will seriously find yourself questioning the mental state of the people who made the films 'cause you'd have to be at least somewhat mentally disturbed to make films like the ones they make in Japan...If you think Western horror films are cscary, you haven't seen nothing yet...
but humans are curious creatures and we want to feel the THRILL of looking at something scary lol We're fascinated with taboos. I think that's why we keep watching these horror films lol

i agree. japanese horror films are fucked up. I saw 'Chakushin ari' last year and i was walking around with mild psychological issues for 2 days afterwards lol
i recently saw this one called 'Keitai kareshi'. the plot bascially revolves around this weird simulation game that allows girls to download their ideal boyfriends to their cell phones and you're supposed to earn points by chatting with the guy and your success is measured by a love meter that's on the side of the screen and once your 'love gauge' reaches zero or one hundred, the guy immediately comes to kill you.
and the reason why these ''cell ohone boyfriends'' and so violent is because in the past, they were all involved in a rape club (a club where a bunch of guys get together and rape women apparently....i know, i was like what kinda fucked up club is that) so anyway about a year before this game became known, these guys were partying in a basement of a building which was also the headquarter for this cell phone provider/company called ''ice scream'' but there was a fire and everybody who was there died but the smoke carried their ashes into the computer and they invaded the original game by assuming the role of the cell phone boyfriends!
the movie itself wasn't that scary but the concept was kinda fucked up lol
love gauge? lol I haven't seen this one yet but you got me all curious now lol So let me get this straight, these cell phone boyfriends originally belonged to a rape club and they all died in a fire accident but their souls remained inside the computer..?? And that's how they took over the game? I'm curious to know how the movie ended.
well the fire wasn't exactly an accident. one of the girls they raped showed up to the building with a gallon of gasoline and she poured that on herself and lit herself on fire in front of them as a revenge sort of thing. she was commiting suicide basically and she wanted to include them. this movie actually had a happy ending. the main character and a police man worked together to destroy all the files in the computer that was causing problems (those files were what kept these rapists' souls alive and active). there really wasn't a lot of guessing work involved. like the plot was pretty simple and easy to figure out but all in all, it was a decent movie.
She lit herself on fire...? holy shit. I guess she couldn't bear to keep on living after being raped by those guys. They didn't show the actual scene of the rape, did they? That'd be wrong on so many levels...lol And I've seen a few Japanese horror films with outrageously inappropriate scenes in them. Like stuff our show bizz wouldn't allow. Do you buy these dvds from online?

i get my dvds from this little store in my neighborhood that specializes in asian cinema/drama and i usually just buy whatever the guy at the counter recommends to me 'cause i don't know which movies are hot in japan.
but yeah i totally get what you're saying about humans being fascinated with taboos. it's like you know in your heart what you're watching is fucked up and wrong but your curiosity always wins out lol it's so weird.

Yeah. Horror movies are a good source of stimulus as long as you are able to differentiate between fantasy and reality. There are some psychos out there who will develop crazy ideas in their heads from watching these horror films and that's when things turn dangerous. so there's always a downside to everything.
this isn't a movie, but its a series on youtube-"MarbleHornets"..a friend of mine told me about this a couple months ago and said it was the scariest thing he had ever seen in his life. so a couple nights later i decided to watch these videos, and it scared the FUCKING shit out of me, creepiest thing ive ever seen...last time i checked there were like 26 videos in the series...the scariest part to me was the fact that sometimes throughout these videos the camera catches "slenderman" on video, but the guy with the camera doesn't always see him cuz its like a split second visual, so keep your eyes open. it might not be scary in the horror sense, but this shit gets under your skin.here are the first 2 vids- check the guys channel for the rest.
so i just watched all the new ones..the first time it ended was on entry 26# and i guess they decided to keep it going for the sake of the story, and i gotta say from there it went downhill, they made it obvious it was fake from the terrible acting and dialogue, but i still enjoyed it nonetheless.
i think it was entry 11 where at one point while he was looking at the window, slendy was standing right next to him and he didn't know
think the scariest part for me was when the guy was in the house and saw masky just sittin there and then all of a sudden he just fuckin bum rushes him
You Guy's Should Watch [Rec] I love horror films and most of them don't get as good as this film does. Its only in Spanish though, but worth it if your a true horror buff and not want to sleep that same night, 🙂

It's good but if you watched Quarantine, it kind of messes up your experience of this movie since its basically a shot by shot remake. So if you don't know what i'm talking about..you'll enjoy [rec].
Insiduous..is actually pretty good, very old school horror movie, where they use straight camera techniques and music to set people on edge. The movie lets you down a bit, but the execution was actually pretty well done...like watching a long old twilight zone episode.
Posted by radar10 I love horror movies, so any good ones I should check out ? Idc if they are old or new, 80s, 90s, foreign.
You should check out this Indie Horror film called Neighbor. It got a lot of awards overseas and the director lives in my hometown. It has one of the smaller characters from Boardwalk Empire in it and filmed before the show aired on TV. Here's a trailer:
well, it has that indie feel to it. the actors are kinda meh, but the violence is ridiculus. i'll describe a few scenes: one involves a very real looking prosthetic/latex penis that gets a swizzle stick shoved in the hole and then snapped. some girl gets a Glasgow Smile with a hacksaw, then later her forearm gets sliced open, cutting the artery, and then gets an adrenaline needle in the heart. people get crippled, then immolated. the acting is kinda sub par but so are most horror flicks. the violence had me dry heaving.
I can rarely enjoy a horror movie these days the way I did when I was a kid. Nothing scares me anymore and most of the time horror flicks are silly and plain stupid.
But the other day I decided to watch William Peter Blatty's "true" sequal to Exorcist, The Exorcist III. Parts of it really blew my mind! Altough it plays out like a typical cop-chasing-psycho movie, it is quite edgy! Too bad we won't be seeing the "lost" director's cut anytime soon, supposedly it's quite different from the theatrical cut... and forever lost from the film vaults.
