I can't wait till they make The Silmarillion into a movie.
Took me 6 months to read LOTR (the full edition--all 3 "books" together, as was intended, with footnotes). I read The Hobbit when I was 10. LOTR was exhausting but amazing. I read it after seeing the movies.
I wonder if very many people realize that Tolkein was a devout Catholic and the books were meant to illustrate Biblical eschatology.

First of all the copyright holder which is Christopher Tolkien will not give permission to Peter Jackson to make a movie from it because he did not like how LoTR or The Hobbit turned out. Plus there is some issues with New Line Cinema owing 80 mil of unpaid royalties to Tolkien. Second of all, it is complex. They could make a movie out of the stories from it. Or a TV series. Which would be better.
