I found this article to be interesting, basically it says we stop being open to new music at the age of 30, and this starts to corollate with being open to new experiences in general.

https://www.iflscience.com/we-stop-discovering-new-music-at-a-certain-age-heres-why-48187?fbclid=IwAR1553vzXtWfCVpGdz349lF5Q1SCawPYKpbHKw2XUlhjqbD7Uydpdcz8BDw

There was also another point....

"In The New York Times, data scientist Seth Stephens-Davidowitz wrote about how the songs that were popular in our teenage years, particularly between the ages of 11 to 14, tends to remain our most streamed songs on Spotify"

It just seems that way because music is getting progressively worse due to the way that it's structured. It used to be that you went on the road, played live shows, and honed your craft, perhaps for years, before you got a deal. Now, all you have to do is have name recognition, studio magic, and some autotune. That's why we have so many former Disney and Nickelodeon child stars as famous popstars. It seems to be more about look than actual talent.

For example, I'm a hip hop fan but most of the artists today are terrible. Most don't even rhyme or have much to say. Even ones considered good, like Migos, are complete garbage. I sorta agree with Gobbie in that people are so in a rush to be a part of something that they lose sight of quality. It makes it more likely that terrible trends gain traction.

The decades starting with the 60's 'til now seem to go in order with the 2020's being worst. Also, people getting stuck listening to their era is less prevalent with the advent of the Internet age and the vast amounts of music at our fingertips. Can't do much with the Boomers except wait them out lol

If anything I'm more jaded to older music I grew up with. I'm constantly looking for a new track of any genre that leaves me enamored. A good example is I would have never listened to a musician like Taylor Swift in my 20s. No fucking way. But some of her new music is amazing imo. I could name another example. I never knew I even liked Bone Thugs-N-Harmony till a painter at work was blasting it last week. So my mind is always open to something I never listened to before. If anything the longer I know a song the less I want to hear it, other then for nostalgia.
