I'm house sitting for a family friend and there's a cat here with me 0.0 I don't necessarily like cats. But putting that aside, I really don't understand cat behavior. Like, I'm having trouble figuring out what the little guy wants. He like meows at me to get my attention and then just stares. I really don't know what he wants. He doesn't like to be pet much. I let him out but he just comes right back in. He barely eats anything I give him. What is this?
He seems to enjoy my company well enough. He took a cat nap at my feet earlier today and he's got no problem rubbing up against me. I just don't understand the whole meowing at me every ten minutes thing.
Thanks for the advice. My family doesn't keep pets so I'm not used to animals being around. I think because he's so old I just really want to make sure he's alright. Don't want him to keel over on my watch. But all of the advice makes sense. Especially about him being curious about me. I forget his owner works all day so he's not used to someone being around during the day. I'll leave him be.
Jahlia: yes, food, water, and litter box are all in order. Perhaps I'll try out a toy on him. 🙂

Ah, he likes you. Sitting by your feet is a dead giveaway. And that's quite a compliment given that you're house sitting, which means he's missing his cat caregivers. He's lonely and wants company. People think cats are solitary animals and trust me they're not. Show him a little affection and you'll probably change your view of cats altogether. Cats rule! 🙂
I agree that he probably likes you, you are a stranger and he is checking you out, give him a stroke and see if he purrs. I have two cats and they have completely different personalities, as long as he has food and water he will be ok.
