The ratings were closer this week. Raw only beat Nitro by around 200,000 After a longggg time of Nitro kicking raws ass the real Monday Night war is happening now and is Quite the battle.

Vince starts the show with Patterson and Brisco. He says tonight they meet the real Vince McMahon as he will be named the humanitarian of the year. He says Stone Cold will join them later tonight for the presentation.

Ken Shamrock vs Kama in a KOTR Qualifier. Nothin special.

Mero and Jarrett vs Blackman and Farooq.

DX shoots a vid with the fans.

2 cold Scorpio vs Owen Hart in a KOTR Qualifier. pretty good

DX comes out and do their schtick! Fans do love em. LOD interrupts. DOA too. Both team want tag title shots.

Mark Henry vs Vader. Match starts pretty good actually until Taker comes out and chokeslams em both.

D Lo vs Dan Severn. boringggg

Val Venis vs Dustin Rhodes. Match is aight. Taker comes out again and fucks em both up

Taker then fucks up Slaughter back stage.

DoA vs LoD vs New Age Outlaws for WWF Tag Titles. Hectic.

The police get Taker.

Al snow is back to confront Lawler!

Austin comes out for Vinces ceremony. Vince gets his award. Vince wants to shake Austins hand and be the humanitarian he is. Austin stils a wad of Vinces cash and donates it. He asks if Vince should be jackass of the year give a hell yeah. Crowd obliges. Lights out! A casket is brought down. Mankind comes from under the ring and attacks Austin. It is Kane in the casket. They both beat on Austin and throw him in the casket.

Not a good raw imo. Back to its messy self.

lol another classic set of wrestling. Better than anything RAW can muster. Although The USOS winning the belts was awesome. Seth Rollins is getting even more kooler. What you thought off raw?

I thought raw was lackluster. I did enjoy their title win too and Rollins was pretty awesome. The crowd wanted their cm punk tho and that made the show a let down without him

Its an okay Nitro. Nothing too special

lol that raw had wayy to much going on. I like this thread better than the Cancer forum sometimes. It's all relationship drama over there lol. Maybe the next episodes you post here be even better. Not every Nitro was good back then

Yeah that is Raws down fall at this time. It gets so chaotic that its like 😕. So Austin and McMahon save it, but not by much.

Yeah you need more than 2 top characters to have a great show. I think WCW had that, but was over using the same top guys. They never wanted to take to many chances with the newer guys you know. That's why eddie, jericho, & beniot left. So WCW & WWF had their faults

Yup. They were opposite in faults. WWF had the hot main event scene and the undercard in 98 and even 99 is not so good. Meanwhile WCWs undercard puts on some great matches and moments, like Jericho but they can never get ahead there andwhile the WCW main event scene can be hot the actual main events always disappoint.

Liveeeeeeee from Baltimore Maryland

1. Booker T vs Chris Benoit match 7 outta 7 winner gets TV championship match later
These two have another pretty great match but of course Benoit cant get the win. No wonder he eventually left the shit show 3.5/5

2. Saturn vs Kanyon
Wow the crowd fucking sucks for this one. Wake the fuck up Baltimore! This was a good match with a weird ending. 3/5

3. Cruiserweight title: Jericho vs Malenko
They recap Jericho crying and spouting his great conspiracies. Malenkos gave up the title because he wanted a piece of Jericho again. HUGE Jericho sucks chants. He's reaching quite the heel status. Not that WCW will care. Malenko takes out his anger on Jericho early. At the end Jericho talks some shit about Malenkos dead father and Malenko snaps and beats him with a chair for the DQ, but does that mean jericho wins the vacant title?! :O lolol 3rd good match in a row! 3.5/5

4. Juventud Guerrera vs Reese
Nothin like Reese on a PPV. The first crapshoot of the night. 1/5

5. Eddie Guerrero v Chavo Guerrero
Eddie has been scared of Chavo all night. match was a little slow at times but good. there was alsi a we want flair chant at one point.. 3/5

6. WCW TV title - Fit Finley vs. Booker T
This crowd sucksss. The match is a notch down from most of the rest tonight. 2.5/5

7. US title: Goldberg vs Konnan
Crowd wakes up a bit, actually. Match is a quick Goldberg match.

After the match Hennig and Rude attack Konnan! Luger and Nash make the save. Hennig and Rude are NWO black and white.

8. Randy Savage and Roddy Piper vs Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart
And now as we inch toward the end the even shall fall apart with the main eventers. 1.5/5

After match match Piper and Macho get into a match"

9. WCW World tag titles: The Giant vs Sting
This is the main event :/. However match is not nearly as bad as it could have been. Its short and to the point. 2/5

This show had a really great first hour and the second hour was decent enough too. The main events as usual were not so good tho. There was an overall meh feeling through most of the night tho so I cannot give this higher than a D+

Nitro loses yet another week in this war. This time but just 200,000 viewers

Theyre in WWF country however as theyre in New York.

We start right off with a hardcore match with public enemy vs Hugh Morrus and Barbarian. The match is a typical hardcore affair.

Out comes Macho man to a nice pop. Gene interviews him. He says DDP has to prove himself in a cage match with him tonight and if he can win tonight he can wear all the red and black he wants

Chris Benoit vs Fit Finley. This is a pretty great match. Benoit gets the win but its too little too late in regards to the title. No wait. Benoit calls out Booker! Booker is out with Stevie ray. Benoit shakes Bookers hand. Booker tells Benoit he is the best he has ever been in the ring with. Stevie tells Benoit Booker has a partner so he doesnt need another one. Stevie ray attacks Benoit! Steve mcmichael makes the save! We want flair chants get loud!

DDP says he will take on Macho tonight and he says after tonight he is going after Hollywood scum hogan and rodman.

Yet another interview. Piper. Im gettin as tired of him as I am hogan. The fans love him tho. He is going to ref the Macho and DDP cage match.

Wolfpac music. Its Luger, nash, and Konnan. Nash talks about Sting bringing home some gold and welcomes him out! Who will he choose to be his co champion? Crowd is hot.

Kanyon gets a quick win.

Hennig and Rude talk shit to Konnan and Goldberg.

Gene interviews JJ Dillon about the cruiserweight title and how it changed hands at the PPV by DQ and since Jericho was declared the winner he is the champ..
Jericho time! He comes out and sings his variation of we are the champions. Jericho must defend against Malenko within 30 days. He talks trsh about Deans dad again and Dean attacks him again!

Hogan time. Its the usual Schtick. They shall be pushin Hogan and Rodman vs DDP and Carl Malone

Its Harlem Heat against the new tag champs. Stings partner is...Kevin Nash!
The match is actually decent. Stevie ray and Bookers problems continue.

Bischoff interviews Scott Steiner. :/

Time for the main event cage match. Macho man vs DDP with Piper as ref. This all ends in a usual Nitro ending clusterfuck.

It was an Okay Nitro. Some of this stuff is definitely wearing thin tho

He wants to get justice for Austin and find out who was behind Kane and Mankinds attack on him. Out comes Austin! To an in sync "uhoh" from Cole and JR lmao. Austin wants to kick Vinces ass! Vince tries to say Taker was behind it all last week! He swears on his grandmothers kittens even!
DONG! Out comes Taker. He says he challenged Austin from a place of respect. He says McMahon is lyin!
Lights go out. Out comes Kane and Paul Bearer and Mankind. Paul congratulates Taker on his academy award winning performance last week. He says Taker was behind it all and doesnt just want the title but Austins very soul! Paul says Kane and Mankind challenge Austin and Taker tonight in that hell in a cell over the ring!

Hot start!

Vader vs The rock. Rock advances in the KOTR tourny

Jarrett vs Droz :/

Val Venis is out and does his hello ladies schtick. He has a meh little match

Mero takes on Dustin Rhodes. Another short one. Dustin thanks lord after his match

X pac has his first match since his return as his injury has healed. It is against Triple H! Its a good lil match. Rock distracts during the match and Owen attacks x pac.

So the final 4 KOTR matches are Mark Henry vs shamrock. Double J vs Mero. Rock vs HHH. and Severn vs Owen.

Al Snow is out and talks about McMahon awful gimmick for him. He confronts Lawler again. Snow starts punchin him! He then takes out a ref. The king thn "gets head"...well gets hit with Al snows Head.

Shamrock and severn vs Owen and Mark Henry. I enjoyed this match. It was stiff. DX comes out and attacks of course tho. It does turn into a fun huge brawl tho!

Tag team royal rumble. Kane and Mankind enter even tho theyre in the main event. They of course win and become the number 1 contenders for the tag titles. Fun match tho.

Down comes the hell in a cell for the main event. Austin comes out to take them on, but Taker does not. This leaves Austin 2 vs 1. Undertaker however comes up from under the ring and is alone with Paul in the cell! Taker kicks his ass. Kane tries to get into the cell while Austin beats on Mankind. Undertaker continues to kill Bearer. Austin goes after Kane on top of the cell!

This was actually a really exciting raw

lol i'm still trying to finish that Nitro from pg. 34. I think if you can, try doing only youtube videos of your posts. They show up a lil better than the web links. It's a shame that the Austin segments were the main thing that was helping Raw at this time. The Undertaker was real hot around this time as well. The Rock wasn't quite a huge draw just yet. So really, Austin/McMahon was WWF's last hope. Of course the events leading up to the montreal screwjob & after.

Well sadly because of the new WWE network all the Raws and WCW and WWE PPVs have been taken off youttube in the US. So I can only post Nitros from youtube since theyre still there. At least for now.

Vince McMahon is out to the chorus of Boos. He introduces "the next WWF champion" Kane! Vince says this Sunday will be the greatest day of his life when he wins the championship. He says this match is a match that has never been done before. There is no pinfall, there is no submission or count out. Not even DQ. The match at the PPV is a first blood match! The person who draws blood first on his opponent wins. Kane talks with his robotic voice. He says if he doesnt win. He will set himself on fire! oh boy.

Ken Shamrock vs Mark Henry. KOTR tournament continues. Certainly not the best match.

They show Edge in the audience. He makes his debut tonight..

X pac vs Dustin Runnels. They tried, I guess

Paul Bearer who is all beat up from Taker last week says he will be in his sons corner at King of the ring

Lawler calls out Al Snow. Al comes out dressed like an old lady for whatever reason. He has Lawlers crown on Head lolol He stilllll wants his damn meeting with Vince. Lawler gets him a contract which is him and head vs Too Much in a tag match at the PPV. Snow must win for a contract.

Mero vs Jeff Jarret in a KOTR match. Sable is out and distracts Mero and double J gets the win. Another blah match.

Road Dog vs Kane. A Kane dominated match as expected.
Bearer says Taker tried to shut him up but he has failed! Undertaker breaks into Bearers house and beats the shit outta him again! lolol

Edge debuts! He takes on Jose Estrada. Odd debut

Dan Severn vs Owen Hart. X pac costs Owen the match in this KOTR match

Rock vs Triple H. The only good match of the night. Ends in chaos tho.

Mankind is out and has the cell brought down. He takes about Undertaker attacking Uncle Paul and Mankind cannot wait to fight him.

Mankind then takes on Billy Gunn.

Sable is out and introduces Stone cold! He wants Kane out. Kane does come out. A bunch of blood then falls on top of Austin! Kane then talks in his stoopid voice and says this sunday the blood on austin will be for real.

Ummmmm weak go home show to the PPV. Was a step above Nitro for the week tho

8. WWF title match: Shawn Michaels vs Steve Austin
Here we gooooo. Tyson out first. Then Austin. They do get in each others faces. The ref kicks out chyna and triple h from ring side early on! Match itself has a nice slow build. I dig it. Fans chant "Holyfield!" mid way through. lmao. Match continues to build up with back and forth to get towards the end. Shawn sets up for sweet chin music. Austin ducks and goes for a stunner! No shawn reverses and goes for sweet chin music again! Austin blocks! Kick! Stunner! Tyson makes the (fast) count! 1...2...3! STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD! JR and the fans go nuts. "The Austin era has begun" says JR nd how right he is. Good match with that classic double reversal end. 4/5

After the match, Tyson has an Austin 3:16 shirt and Shawn gets in Tysons face and Tyson punches shawn out going against the entire storyline leading up to this.

So really most matches were in the middle between good and bad. So i guess it should be around a C. The mid card is not C worthy tho. Or see worthy. Badoom tsh. Ill be genrous however and go with a C-

I just watched the ending to this match again yesterday.

Pretty good for being so short. 2/5

4. Too Much v. Al Snow & Head
Lawler is the ref so this is basically 3 on 1. Pretty stupid match 0.5/5

5. X-Pac (w/Chyna) vs. Owen Hart
The best mtch thus far 2.5/5

Paul Bearer arrives.

6. WWF World tag team title: The New Age Outlaws vs The New Midnight Express
this is champions vs champions I guess. Pretty good pretty good. 2.5/5

7. King of the Ring Finals: The Rock vs. Ken Shamrock
Triple H is at ringside. Good match! And I am surprised that Shamrock won and is the 1998 king of the ring as I was not expecting him to win. 3/5

8. Hell in a cell: Undertaker vs Mankind
Ahhhh shit. Mankind climbs the cell and Taker chases him up there. The two brawl up top. Dangerous doesnt begin to describe it. And so Undertaker then throws him off the top of the cell onto the spanish announce table!!! "GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! THAT KILLED HIM! AS GOD AS MY WITNESS, HE IS BROKEN IN HALF!" And the match just started FFS. EMTs and docs tend to him. He eventually refuses tho and climbs up to brawl with taker on top of the cell again! So this time Taker chokeslams Mankind through the cell onto the ring mat! He be taking a beating. Some how Mankind still fights. His tooth went up into his nose btw after the throw off the cell.

Mankind piledrives taker onto a chair. The fight goes on, however. Mankind has a bag and empties it onto the mat. Its a bag of fucking thumbtacks! Mankind eventually gets slammed back first into them! Then chokeslammed onto them for good measure. Followed by a tombstone for the win. Welp this was definitely the most brutal match in WWF/E history. Mankind getting thrown off the top of the cage is a crazy and iconic moment. This was not a wrestling classic, but a classic nonetheless. 4/5

9. First Blood. WWF Title: Steve Austin vs Kane
I enjoy the sign in the audience "when you hear the glass, hide your ass." Also sounds a little rapey tho :/ Austin comes in and takes down Kane quick! Austin levls him with the belt a few times. Idk how he will bleed with a mask on tho. Kane tries to gain control but Austin continues to defend his turf. The cell starts to come down...
They eventually start to brawl in the cell and then around the arena. The ref gets knocked out. Never bodes well. Mankind some how manages to come out with a chair. He goes at Austin. Out comes Taker. Austin stuns kane and mankind. Taker swings the chair at mankind but hits austin. This busts him open! Austin has lost :O The match is a hard match to be too good but they tried their darndest. 2/5

The event as a whole kind of delivered. I mean the hell in a cell match is classic. Austin losing the title is shocking, really. Ken shamrock was a nice surprise as KOTR winner.

Nitros ratings stayed the same this week as Raw fucking rose quite high after the PPV and beat nitro 5 and a half million viewers to around 4 million viewers for Nitro.
Now would be the time to maybe make new stars nd fucking freshen up the main even scene.

But we start with football player Kevin Greene. :/ He and Goldberg were roomates and they will tag up at Bash at the beach.

Horace Hogan vs Kanyon. I do like Kanyon.

Stevie ray talks about something

Ultimo Dragon vs Eddie Guerrero. Chavo comes out riding a horsehead on a stick lolol. Talkin shit to Eddie in this role reversal story. Eddie chases him off.

Giant beats some nobodies.

Curt Hennig talks shit to Kevin Greene. Goldberg also comes out to a huge pop.

Hogan is out for his boring interview.

Out comes Luger and Sting. They take on Bulldog and Neidhart. Nothin special. And this was up against the start of raw.

Tokyo Magnum and Shimi Something vs Disco Inferno and Alex Wright. Finally Disco and Wright team up. It was fate all along. Still a nothing match.

The buyrate at the PPV was pretty good. Only half of what Wrestlemania did tho.

Vince comes out and is super happy about there being a new WWF champ. The belt is in the ring in a glass case. He introduces the New champ. Kane! Paul Bearer speaks on Kanes behalf. He talks about how Kane wanted to be like the Undertaker. Bearer told Kane back than that he could be better than him! Vince has Brisco take off the glass case. He is now going to present Kane with the title..
GLASS SHATTERS! Out comes Austin. Austin says that Kane never busted him open at the PPV by Kane it was Taker. So Austin wants his rematch! Vince says maybe Austin doesnt deserve a rematch tonight. Austin says if you want a rematch give him a hell yeah and the crowd obliges. Vince says its fine with him if its ok with paul bearer. Paul says its ok with him if its ok with Kane. Kane accepts the rematch tonight!!

Steven regal debuts and beats Droz.

The king of the ring, Ken Shamrock is out. He says the king of the rings has been one of the hardest things hes ever had to do. He talks about the rock and gives him credit for finally taking him on one on one. Out comes Owen Hart! Owen says he has one the king of the ring before and is a better king shamrock will ever be. He wants to fight shamrock to find out the real king. Out comes Triple H and says he wants a 3 way dance to determine the real king of kings since he was last years king.

Out starts the Brawl for all. I guess a boxing/ufc hybrid. Mero vs blackman is first. This brawl for all stuff will be hit or miss.

Val Venis beats someone from kaientai. After the match Val flirts with the leader dudes wife. The rest of the team attack him.

Triple h vs Owen vs Shamrock. Rock costs Hunter the match. DX and Nation brawl and Shamrock gets the win.

Out is Taker. Says he didnt want to see Kane set himself on fire. He says he did what he had to do at the PPV. Vince is out. He says Taker has no compassion and he had austin lose because Taker cant beat him. He says Taker better not interfere in tonight main event

Another brawl for all. This one is better. Fans disagree tho as I think they start chantin boring

Main event time. Kane vs Austin championship on the line. Its a pretty good main event and the title on the line on a big main event on raw is always a plus. Taker is out. Austin does indeed regain his title to a hugeeeee pop. Short ass title run for Kane. Taker and Austin have a stare down. Paul ends up distracting Taker and then austin stuns him....soon both Kane and Taker sit up and both stare down Austin.

I quite enjoyed this raw for the most part. def better than Nitro.

Of course the most important Nitro in awhile isnt on youttube 😡

I dont feel like searching for the rest of nitro in various vids so Ill just post the big Goldberg stuff

Nitro and Raw traded ratngs this week as Raw fell and the big Goldberg show jumped and Nitro won by enarly a million viewers.

Undertaker is out and he wants a match with Austin! Out he comes. However Vince comes out. He says nobody named Taker the number one contender. Vince says they can fight at the next ppv and tear each other apart. However they will team up against Mankind and Kane..

Brawl for all time. Funny that its all the nobodies beatin the fuck outta each other

Jarrett vs Shamrock. Edge is in the audience. Big ol Mabel attacks and BIG splashes Shamrock. Mabel is actually an ex kotr winner.

Vader vs bradshaw was startin to become a good brawl but kane and mankind attack

DOA vs Headbangers. Its aight

Funk vs D Lo. Gotta love the flair woos during the chops. Funk can still go

Vince is gnna name the number 1 contender. He calls out Mankind and Kane. Then also Taker. They will all fight in a triple threat match tonight for the number 1 contendership.

Undertaker doesnt show up for the triple threat match so its mankind vs kane. Kane ends up beating Mankind and Vince is basically orgasming about it. But now kane unmaks and its undertakers!!! Great end.

Overall an enjoyable lil episode

DX vs Nation is a classic feud. Leading up to my favourite match ever. Rock vs HHH IC title ladder match at Summerslam 98.

It is a pretty good feud. I do enjoy all of the Rock and Trips feuds

Yeah RAW was doing great around this time. HHH & The Rock started to branch out on their own because those past gimmicks weren't cutting the cake. I wasn't even watching WCW too much anymore around this time. That hell in a Cell between Taker & HBK got me full time hooked on WWF

Yeah Raw is starting to pick up and Nitro is starting to struggle. The tide certainly is turning. So WCW is going with this hot shotting the title on goldberg

Im not gnna watch Bash at the beach because it is not intriguing at all

The ratings were close. One week after Nitro finally beat Raw again they lose again this week but only by 100,000 to 200,000 peeps

Jericho says the winner between Mysterio and Malenko tonight can challenege Jericho for his title.

They recap Buff Bagwell returning from his neck injury last week. His mom is with him as he is in a wheel chair..Buff is out again this week. Buff says after rehabilitation he wants rick stenier the guy who did this.

Bret Hart vs Fit Finlay. Nothin special. Least Bret had a match tho

Stevie Ray is out and with the tv title. He takes on Rick Martel. Stevie doesnt want to give up the belt even tho its Bookers. Hart helps Stevie for whatever fuckin reason

Malenko vs Rey Mysterio. #1 contender for cruiserweight title. These two put on a good match as usual. Jericho costs Malenko the match so he doesnt have to fight ol deano.
