Virgo woman dating Capricorn man.... Sudden break

Ok... So I knew this guy 20 years ago and then one day out of the blue he contacts me wanting to get together.... So we've been dating for 5 months now and over the summer practically were inseparable except when he needed his man cave moments and we just got back from vaca. Has a fabulous time too... We did on our last day however picked up my son who was staying with his father for the summer... Kind of weird him meeting my ex for the first time but it was bound to happen since we both have ex's with kids...so we get back home and we take a few days apart to take care of our personal business and then spend yet another fabulous day/ evening together... Then absolute silence... I wasnt sure if he was mad because of a text that a friend had sent me... (sent a pic of his "junk"). Being so upset about the pic... I told him about it and then I told him I had no plans to continue my friendship with the so-called friend. Despite me showing him the pic we went about our evening and all was great as far as I knew. Two days later with no word... I finally asked him of he was ok... He finally responded later and said the yea he had just been thinking about a lot of things... (in his man cave basically). So I asked him if anything was wrong... No response... So I let him be... Almost a week later with no word if finally gave in and asked again if he was ok... And this was his response...."Hey ... sorry for not getting back to u... dads been in the hospital for the last five days... I'm sorry for hurting u in anyway , I just need to be single and focus on my family... seeing scott (my ex) and how sad he looked when dalton was leaving just killed me... I don't want that to be me .... you are a great girl and deserve to be with somwone who isn't hung up on his past..".

Now I can handle rejection but we just went on a nice expensive vacation which didn't have to happen since both of us really could have used the money to pay for other necessary bills. So really I don't understand how we could go from really really happy to broken up.... I'm sure there is more to the story and maybe he's just needing time to deal with his ex. After all she did cheat pn him and is now engaged to the guy!

I fell for this man in a way I hadn't expected... Our physical and emotional bond was incredible. So i guess what I'm hoping for is that someone may have some insite on what might be going thru his head or might even tell me he will probably come back..... I dunno just so
