What if you notice that the person you are seeing is trying to communicate with you, but they're so bad at direct verbal communication. And you don't want to spoil it by 'teaching' them to verbally communicate. So you try to talk to them in the same way, which is totally ineffective. How can you make sure you know what you're doing (aka, they're receiving it), and also you're not misconstruing what they're trying to get across?
